The holy fuck moment

The rest of the day had gone by in a blast, I had in packed, and re arranged my home which had taken up most of my time. I had even gone out that night to the diner, and ordered up a nice tavern burger, and maybe two slices of double fudge cake.

They had been delicious, the burger a whole new burst of flavors for me... I had never had a burger that was, in an ironic use of the word, real. The cake however had been far too sweet, making my molars scream at me with every bite... And I admit to eating every last crumb.

It hadn't been so bad either, a nice plump woman met me at the counter, guiding me to a booth where I sat waiting for my food. Looking around, I had seen more than one male eye sliding over to me, and I felt no feminine delight, only softly jeeved and uncomfortable. The woman had returned ten minutes later with the meal in a Tupperware container, which had seemed odd so I had asked her why she gave me it like that.

"Well I noticed you were uncomfortable around," shed leaned forward to whisper, "all these young men, so I decided to pack it for you. Nothing fancy, in fact this first time is on the house."

I was so surprised and pleased that I had felt like crying, so I hugged her, and told her I would definitely stop by more often, to which she sent me off with a "Just this time on the house, I do have a business!"

Now I sat at home, on the ground floor, sitting atop the washing machine and looking out the small window to watch the woods with a longing look.

I couldn't wait for the woods tomorrow, in fact I was far more than a little excited. I loved hiking, and definitely recommended it to all. It was stimulating and softly exertive, and made me feel alive and buzzing like the nature around me.

This place wasn't so bad at all...

Maybe today wasn't gonna be a good day.

I had wanted to wear my nice comfy shorts, and tank, but I couldn't find them for the he'll of me, so I was forced to wear leggings and a sports bra. Which, don't get me wrong, were comfy, but not very freeing.

I had turned in the mirror and had pumped myself up a bit before heading off, finding the small little trail she had told me to arrive at easily. Well, okay I found her by her car, but that didn't mean I wouldn't have found it on my own.

It was in the direct front of the woods about ten.miles from my home, and was marked by the decent sized path and two large maple trees around the front of the trail. Really beautiful if one chose to stare for a little bit.

The air was thick and crisp, damp with the morning dew. I loved the air up here, no more heavy breathing, all clear. And the feel was intense. One typically chose to ignore the natural sounds of the day, but the deep whoosh of wind in the trees and the vibrant hum of the nature in the woods made me feel tingly.

"Yay, Elise, you're finally here!" Alexis called from the very beginning of the wear in the path.

I smile and wave as I start forward toward her, "Where else would I be?" I say with a giggle.

A sudden growl split the calming him of the day, and I freeze, whipping towards the woods. My shackles were up, and I was weary. Something had to be in those woods.

A small hand lands on my shoulder, "Okay, let's set off! We don't have all day, want to be there by night fall!"

I point towards the direction of the dangerous noise, and she laughs, "It was a toad silly, let's set off!"

A cold feeling settled over my spine at the thought of the hike, but I shook it off. I couldn't hide from everything now could I?

Even if I got a really hard jolt at the thought of the sound... I had a feeling we weren't gonna be alone on this run...
