CAROLINE FORBES sat herself down on the couch inside the Salvatore boarding house, her knee bounced nervously, as she reached out to grab the glass of water Mason Lockwood was handing her with shaky hands.
"Here." Mason sent her a kind smile, earning a weary one back. The blonde was still unsure about trusting the man after their little encounter in the woods. 
"I'm still shaking" she said, as she struggled to move her glass to her lips. 
Damon Salvatore stood off to the side, glaring at Mason, who walked over to the drinks table and poured himself a whiskey. 
"What are you even doing here exactly?" the oldest Salvatore asked with distaste laced in his voice. 
"Your house has the best whiskey in town," Mason stated, downing his drink, earning a sarcastic smile from the vampire. 
"What happened?" Stefan Salvatore asked, as he rushed down the stairs, causing a sigh to leave the blonde's lips. 
"Go ahead, tell him" Mason encouraged, as he poured himself another glass, earning himself another glare. 
"Yeah, you're gonna love this" Damon said to his brother, who looked between the two men in complete confusion. 
"What is he doing here?" he questioned Damon, pointing his thumb over his shoulder at the werewolf.
"We're teammates now, Stefan," Mason smirked, lifting his glass in a 'cheers' motion. 
Stefan scoffed in amusement, "That's funny, 'cause you've been MIA the last two weeks and still haven't told us jack shit." 
"I'll tell you on a need to know basis" Mason said, downing his drink. 
"You know, I can still kill you, right?" Damon hissed, as he came over and snatched the bottle of whiskey from the man's hand, pouring himself a glass, earning an amused smile in return. 
"I'd like to see you try without your witch friend's help." Mason stood tall, taking a threatening step closer to the vampire.
"Oh, yeah?" Damon took a challenging step forward, getting right in the werewolf's face.
