"Are you laughing at me?"
- Francis ShelbyEvery time Francis seemed to have her life back on track Thomas came and uprooted her. Especially when it involved family. He seemed to show up with important news every time somebody from her past popped up. It was as if his brain gave him a signal. And he just had to ruin things.
A beautiful grey and white filly was led out to the ring and she was walked around twice before the betting began so that all of the bidders could see the horse properly.
"That's the horse" Francis pointed out softly as she smiled down on the animal.
"She's beautiful" Micheal said to her as he too was in awe of the beast.
"I want her. She's good... I can feel it." Francis looked to Tommy with pleading eyes.
"That's the 'orse then." Thomas spoke taking a drag from his cigarette. He needed a horse for the upcoming races and he had been going on about it for some time now. But he had to be sure he was getting the right horse and so he'd brought his most trusted family with him to help him pick. Francis, of course, didn't let him buy any big investment without her say in it.
From the corner of her Fran had noticed a girl staring the group down. A brunette beauty of a woman with a thin waist and a pinched nose. Most definitely a toff. She had a very focused look on her face and when she noticed Francis staring back she diverted her eyes elsewhere.
"Do I hear 800 Guinness?" The salesman asked. Someone nodded on the lower section had nodded. "Eight fifty?" He asked again. To that Thomas nodded his head. "One thousand and fifty?" Thomas nodded his head again. "Two thousand."
This time, before Thomas could, the man next to the brunette woman from earlier gestured for the horse.
With a scowl Francis wrapper her arm around Tommy's. He looked down at her confused. "Don't let them get 'er, Thomas, she's the one." She pressed.
The back and forth went on for five minutes before eventually it got too much and and the man opposite couldn't bid anymore. With a bustle of loud cheers the group began to celebrate. Fran cuddled into Tommy's side and thanked him quietly. The group had gotten their horse. There was something she could feel in her gut that said this was the right horse.
Everyone was happy as they walked back. All with wide smiles and a slight bounce in their steps. Francis had her arms linked with John's and Arthur's. "Ohhh, my favourite boys!" She yelled giddily as they practically swung her around.
