"Do you enjoy this? This game?" -Francis

Insecurity.

Secrecy.

Fear.

Lies.

A short list of things commonly found in a relationship. A short list of things commonly found in friendships. An extremely short list of things found in life.

But while the bad ultimately seems to pile up, the good is present too.

Happiness.

Openness.

Trust.

Love.

A lot of us spend our lives searching for the bad in things. We search so hard that we pass over the good things that bring us joy. Things worth living for.

To Thomas looking for the good was pointless.

Everyone he'd come across in his life had brought him down in one way or another. Near everyone prayed on his downfall or wanted his power, his strength.

But when he'd met Francis she hadn't tried to hurt him... ruin him. No, instead she showed her own power, fought alongside him, helped him...

God she saved him without even trying.

Insecurity.

The main focus of Tommy's life was the thought that he'd never be good enough. Never have enough to give to other people. So he built up walls, put on a mask, and kept himself to himself.

But as he sat naked and utterly exposed in the small tin bath of Francis's living room, he allowed himself to simply be a person. He wasn't trying to be a god or some big bad boss.

He simply sat in silence as she gently smoothed the soapy sponge over his body to clean it of the blood, mud and filth it had accumulated during the day.

Today he'd allow himself to feel vulnerable. He'd let her take care of him one time, one time, before he prepared to take the world for her.

"I- I'm sorry." He choked out, the words slicing through the silent air like a blade.

Francis smiled and paused her cleaning. With a gentle hand she turned his head and pressed her forehead to his. She closed her eyes and inhaled softly.
