chapter 22

it was a couple weeks later and we were back from colorado. cooper on crutches obviously.

jack was at hockey practice and ava was at work so i sat in my room, on my phone. and then i remembered that tomorrow was me and jacks one year, and tomorrow was saturday, which means he would want to come over as soon as possible. fuck. i quickly got up and ran to coopers room.

"cooper. wake up. i need help" i yelled as my brother slowly awoke from his sleep.

"what?" he turned over.

"do you wanna come with me to walmart to get stuff for jack? you can ride around in one of those old lady things" i asked and cooper agreed and we slowly made our way to the car.

"we'll be right back mom" i yelled closing the door behind me.

i drove to walmart and picked up some of jacks favorite things and a basket to put it in. perfect. cooper very much enjoyed riding around in the old lady thing. we drove home and my mom helped me assemble it.

"perfect" i looked at it.
"i love it" my mom added. "goodnight el" she kissed me on the cheek.
"goodnight mom" i smiled. i walked up to my room to continue watching my show.

the next morning i woke up and threw a black sweater and some jeans on. i was doing my makeup when jack texted me.

hey, you should come over.
                                                              on my way😘

i finished getting ready and walked down the driveway to my car and hopped in. i drove down the familiar roads of jacks house. he greeted me outside. "happy one year ellie" he grabbed my hand and led me up to his room. we walked into his room and there was roses scattered all over the floor, then he grabbed something off his desk.

"so, since we're a little young to get married, here's this for now, this is my promise that i'll always be here" he kissed my forhead as i slipped the promise ring on my hand.

"jack, all i got you was a basket with some of your favorite things" i laughed looking around in awe.

the rest of the day was spent watching movies and talking. it was very late at night and jack was very sleepy. and when jack is sleepy, he's gets touchy.

"jack i gotta go home" i kissed his forehead and started to get up.

"don't leave" he grabbed onto me.

"do you want me to sleep over?" i questioned

"yes" he snuggled into me. i texted my mom and she said it was fine.

the next morning, luke made pancakes for us and quinn.

"thanks luke" i said walking into the kitchen "anything for my future sister in law" he laughed. "you know if you and jack don't work out, we can get married" luke winked at me which led to jack rolling his eyes.

"keep dreaming dukes" jack said before we walked off. me and jack sat down on the couch and started to eat. they had another hockey tournament/nhl training for 3 weeks, i dreaded it very much. but id figured i'd help him pack. i finished packing for him and decided i'd head home since all he wanted to do was sleep.

"byeee jackkk" i reached over to hug him and kissed the sleepy boy.

"byeee ellll... i'll be over tonight" he smiled sleepily and turned over to fall back asleep.

at home i had cleaned up and did some homework until it was way later at night and i was getting ready for bed pretty early for it being a sunday night with no school tomorrow. i heard jack open the front door and then i heard footsteps approaching my room. he slowly walked in and crawled into bed with me.

"how are still tired you slept all day" i asked as he wrapped his arms around me.

"i don't know?" he smiled and sat up.

we made small talk for a little bit and we thought about what we would do tomorrow since we didn't have school. "mmm, we could go pumpkin picking" i suggested.

"well i have a party with the hockey boys tomorrow, so no" he looked at me.

"well we can hang out until you have to leave" i sarcastically rolled my eyes. we watched hocus pocus and i fell asleep long before he did.

the next morning i woke up and jack was still sleeping. i walked downstairs to make him breakfast.
pancakes and strawberries. we woke up right when i was finishing them and walked downstairs. "thanks babe" he kissed my cheek and sat down and started to eat. him and cooper talked for a little bit, then cooper and jack left to go get ready at jacks house before there party.

"text me when it's done, i'll pick you up" i smiled as my boyfriend walked out the door. "you too coop" i said as my brother side eyed me. i knew both of them would be drunk.

the night was spent with ava, online shopping, talking and doing homework. eventually jack called me.

"hey babe, you ready for me to pick you up" i asked.

"uh yea, is ava gonna be with you, cooper misses her" he slurred and laughed.

"yep she'll be there, are you at alex's house?" i asked.

"uhh maybe. alex is this your house. oh yeah i'm at alex's house" he laughed drunkly.

"ok be over soon" i said and hung up.

me and ava got into the car and drove to alex's house which wasn't far. we pulled into the driveway and got out to see our boyfriends laying on the grass laughing at eachother.

"jack" i said walking up to him and he immediately sat up.

"ellie boo, i missed you so much" he started kissing me.

"i missed you too babe. come on" i helped him up and led him to the backseat of the jeep and ava did the same with cooper.

we pulled back into my driveway and we decided we would sleep downstairs because it would be easier to get them downstairs.
i led jack to downstairs and to the couch thinking he would fall asleep right away. "el don't leave" he cried reaching out to me.

"jack you need some rest" i said back.

"commmmeee heeeerrreee" he slurred. i went and laid by him on the couch he immediately wrapped his arms around me and fell asleep.
