Ari woke up to the sound of her extremely loud alarm going off. It took her a second to open her eyes and search for her phone on the table next to her, nearly bumping a cup off in the process. Hitting the snooze button, she checked the time. 10 am, Saturday. She's off today. Yay!
She stretched and yawned, closed her eyes and then snuggled back up in her bed. She got home around 11 last night. Her and Zach ended up just talking in her car for a few hours. She smiled to herself, remembering the interaction. They made plans to get coffee today, and maybe go to a game store or something. Zach's face popped up in her mind. His beautiful squinty eyes, his beard, his weird voice, and of course his humor. Practically perfect in every way.
Wait, what time did they decide on?
Ari's eyes opened. Did we say one? Or two maybe? Well, she doubts it was at 10 am, so she's fine for now. She grabbed her phone, finding Zach's name in her contact list. This would be the first time she's ever messaged him.
Hey, what time were we getting coffee? I forgor lol
Message sent. She put her phone down, and leaned up to stretch again. Might as well get the day going. She walked out of her room after throwing a comfy hoodie on, expecting to see the house empty since Jam slept in until like 5 pm anymore, but was surprised to see her sitting at the kitchen countertop. She turned her head and smiled at Ari. "Late night out, or did you get lost?" She asked. Ari walked into the kitchen and threw open the refrigerator, grabbing a bottle of juice. "I ran into- uh... I... Zach was there. At the gas station." Ari stammered out, still a little sleepy. She also didn't want Jam to make a big deal out of it. Upon turning her head to look at her, however, Jam had a very smug look on her face. "Did you kiss?" She said. Ari frowned at her friend. "No, we didn't kiss." "Missed opportunity." Jam leaned back in her chair, still smiling slightly. "We're getting coffee today, though." Ari said, closing the fridge and placing the bottle on the table. Jam leaned forward again. "Ooh, first date, that's exciting! Maybe you'll kiss today then." Ari made a disapproving look at Jam.
They talked for a bit about work, and about whatever current Twitter or discord drama was going on. Jam said she was working on audio for Chris today, and might get some groceries later. They discussed Chris Chan as well. After a bit, Ari had thrown some toast in the toaster for breakfast, excited about the day. Her phone buzzed. She pulled it out of her pocket and up to her face to read the notification.

Oh fuck. Ari's head whipped around to look at the clock on the wall. 10:35. Ari swiftly ran to the bathroom to get ready. She could hear Jam chuckling behind her.
