Everyone immediately jumped into the car when they learned what hospital Tomar was at. Why hadn't they heard sooner? Everyone was asking questions to Chris since he had been the one to talk to Jaxxy.
Is he ok? How bad was it? Did they catch who did it? Why didn't she tell us?
But Chris had no answers, other than reassuring them that Jaxxy had sounded calm and not too worried.
Once they got to the hospital, they all rushed to the entrance and asked where he was at. The secretary pointed them in the right direction and they hurried down the long, spooky corridors.Ari was feeling a lot of things right now, and she was sure the rest of the guys were too. Worried, confused, scared. She just hoped he was ok. Then she remembered something.
Didn't she see someone get hit by a car that day her and Zach met up?
Her heart dropped and she felt the blood rush out of her face. That wasn't Tomar, was it??Finally at his room, everyone waited outside while a nurse went in to check up. The seconds felt like hours. They didn't know what they were gonna see. When the nurse came back out, she smiled and nodded, indicating they can all come in. They filed in quickly, and turned the corner around a curtain.
Tomar was sat up on the hospital bed, awake and smiling at them. His left arm was in a sling as well as his left leg, and he had some bruises along his side where they could see. Overall, he looked pretty good for someone who got hit by a car. Everyone collectively relaxed upon seeing him, and the boys all started talking to him at once. Tomar laughed, and used his non broken hand to wave them all back. "I'm fine, really. It was a crosswalk and this guy didn't see me cuz it was dark, and he wasn't going that fast. It just threw me back and I landed hard on my side, nothing to bad."
"Dude your arms in a cask and half your body is purple!" Zach said. Everyone chuckled a bit. "Yeah but only my arm broke, my leg just twisted in a bad way so I just need to be easy on it. The bruises suck though."
"You pressing charges?" Chris said. Tomar shrugged. "I mean, I have to say the guy was really worried and was the first one to respond, and took full responsibility. So we'll probably just have him pay insurance stuff and medical bills."
"I think you should kill him" Zach said in a very dead pan voice. Everyone laughed again, louder this time. All their anxiety had gone after talking to Tomar and seeing it wasn't all that bad. Still crazy though, but everything's alright.
"Sorry I didn't say anything to you guys, I was on a bunch of pain meds yesterday and I'm only gonna be in here for one more day, so I thought it would just be a funny story to tell when I got back."
"Ok yeah that would've been funny," Chris agreed, "but please let us know next time you become horribly injured or disfigured."After saying goodbye and leaving the hospital, nobody really had the energy to keep playing the game, so they ordered a pizza and decided to just chill tf out.
Ari vigorously stuffed her face full of chicken bacon ranch pizza and more dr peeper, the rest of the crew following suite. Zach sat next to ari on the couch once again, pizza in hand.
"I felt real fear in my bones today." He said. Ari nodded. She relaxed back into the couch, stummy already full. "Yeah seriously. Haven't felt like that since... well I don't know anyone who's been hit by a car before." Zach chuckled at her response. Ari suddenly realized how close she was to him. They were the only ones on the couch; Chris was getting all the footage and audio ready from their play through's that day, and Cory and Lyle were back in their chairs talking between themselves.
She didn't know how to keep the conversation going. Her brain had seemed to short circuit after the day's events. It seems like Zach noticed this as well. "Doing alright?"
"Yeah. Just tired now, I think. I'll probably go home soon." Ari checked her phone. 10 minutes to 9. Zach checked his as well. Ari looked over at his. He seemed to have a bunch of texts and emails for what looked like business stuff. Mostly emails from Adult swim and Michael. He sighed😖. "Did I tell you I'm gonna be going up to Anaheim this week?" Ari shook her head. "What for?" "Adult swim. Meeting with execs and producers and stuff. Boring shit." Ari was glad she didn't have to sit through those parts of the business. Just organizing finances and employee stuff was all she needed.Zach walked her out to her car again. It was pretty dark, so she really appreciated it. "What day are you going?" She asked as she unlocked her door. "Tuesday. I'll be back Wednesday though. The meetings take forever and I'm usually tired as fuck by the end." Ari smiled at him. He seemed to get a bit flustered when she did, this time. "I'll see ya soon, I guess." "You got any free time this week before you go?" Ari heard herself say. She's really getting brave now. Zach pondered for a moment. "Tomorrow i think. Should be free after 3. Whatcha wanna do?" Ari pondered this time. Then she shrugged. "Just wanna watch a movie or something? I can get snacks. You could meet my roommate too." Ari said. She wondered how Jam would get along with Zach. She knew they'd go well, but knew that Jam would be making cheap shots at ari the whole time. Which is funny, to be fair. "That sounds fun," Zach chuckled, "I'll head to your place when I'm free if that's fine." Ari nodded once again, a big ol smile on her stupid face. They both looked at eachother for a second, before Zach suddenly leaned in and kissed her really quickly. On the lips.
Ari knew her face must've turned to the color of the Dr Pepper box. Zach laughed, before waving goodbye and walking off.
