--------------------------

The car ride to the hospital was painfully awkward.

Painful, because Chris was in the backseat cradling his left arm, while resting his left leg gently on Ari's lap.
Awkward, because he had just been hit by a car driven by The Nostalgia Critic.

"How you doin', buddy?" Zach turned around from the passenger seat to look at Chris.
As a response, Chris gave a thumbs up. Ari winced a little, looking at his bruised hands.
"Didn't break that, did you?" Zach asked, noticing as well.

"I told you, I think I'm just bruised real bad. He was going like 20." Chris said, laughing slightly.
"Dude I saw him going like 70 or something when he hit you!" Adam's voice sounded a little muffled coming from the driver's side.

As soon as Chris hit the ground back there, Adam had rushed out of the café and to his side, behind Zach and Ari. When they looked at the driver, who had ran to help as well, Ari thought she must've been hit by a car too.
Fearing the cost of the American healthcare system, Chris asked for a ride to the hospital instead of an ambulance, and Adam obliged.
He wasn't really bleeding, but his side was bruised; he said it felt like maybe a fracture or something. Ari didn't like it, but she helped him into Adam's car anyways.

They had been driving through the city for 5 minutes, and should be getting to the hospital soon. The rain had started to slow down and the evening sun was setting in the distance, reflecting a soft pink color on the wet roads.
Ari was anxious about Chris's condition, but he seemed to find the whole thing a little funny.
She furrowed her brow and looked out the windshield, trying to spot the hospital. It should only be another block...

The car slowed down, and turned to the left suddenly. Then they stopped. Ari heard a window roll down.
"Hello uhhhh can I get 4 number fours all- uh all mediums with uhhh um... sprites?"
Adam was leaning out his window and speaking loudly to the McDonald's drive-thru menu. Ari couldn't believe anything anymore.
"No no can I have a smoothie instead?" Chris said politely. Ari frowned at him.
"Dude, I don't think they carry those anymore." Zach mumbled sorrowfully to him.
Chris looked devastated.
