The rain came down suddenly in the late afternoon.
Ari was already out the door when it started. She was heading down the block to the café where they had their first 'date'.She took cover under a building's awning, but the torn cover didn't protect her very well. She looked down the street trying to spot the café, and noticed it's sign a bit further away. She decided to just do a slight jog, pulling her hoodie up as much as she could without covering her sight. A few puddles later, she made it to the orange doors of the café. The soft light coming from the interior warmed her up right away, and she hastily made her way inside.
She ordered a black coffee with sugar, and sat down at an empty table. Her foot tapped nervously as she pulled out her phone, checking her messages.
She and Zach decided to meet up here to talk. Talk about what? Ari wasn't sure, but she had some things to talk to him about too.
The last text she had was from Jam.
good luck lolNot the most helpful, as usual. She glanced down and saw Chris's name. The last message he sent was 2 days ago. Ari didn't have the courage to start a conversation at the moment. Her phone buzzed in her hands, making her jump a little.
I'm here
She looked up quickly and whipped her head towards the café entrance, looking for Zach. He was standing right in front of the doors looking down at his phone. His iconic brown jacket was a little wet from the rain, but Ari noticed the umbrella in his other hand. No fair, she thought. As she was about to text him where to look, Zach suddenly turned and gazed around the room, and they quickly found each other's eyes. He started his way towards her.

Chris POVChris was playing his baby grand piano; the rain outside his house adding a somber ambience to the already melancholy music. He was practicing the 3rd movement of the Final Fantasy VII theme, a slightly difficult polyrhythmic piece. He wasn't doing too bad, though.
His hands and fingers moved across the keys with purpose and confidence, but his face was pretty emotionless. He'd been feeling a little down lately. He wasn't sure why.
Well... he did know why. But it wasn't a big deal.
Maybe the weather was just bringing the mood down. The piano buzzed. Chris blinked, and stopped playing in the middle of a measure. It buzzed again. He frowned, then noticed his phone lighting up on the top of the piano. The phone buzzed, the piano along with it, as another text popped up. Chris chuckled softly to himself, and grabbed his phone.
how you doing buddy? :)
Chris scratched the back of his head, thinking of a reply. Adam was the only guy he had really talked to about things recently.
I'm alright 👍 thanks for asking :)
He sighed, and looked out the window to his right. It was very grey outside, the rain still coming down without any sign of stopping soon. Another text lit up his phone screen.
I don't believe u but ok.
I'm here if you need anything :)Chris smiled a little, but he still felt sad. He was glad Adam was around for a bit. You could tell him any deep dark secret you have and he'll most likely forget about it in a week. And he had some good advice every now and then, too.
Chris hadn't really talked to Zach lately, even though they planned on recording some OneyPlays this weekend. He wasn't sure why he hadn't talked to Zach, because he didn't really have a problem with him. He hasn't talked to Ari either.
Maybe he feels... embarrassed?
Nervous?
...
Maybe it is just jealousy.
He didn't want to admit it, though.
