Kyler

After the last kid got picked up, I searched for Rachel and found her in the employee lounge, pulling on her coat. "Hey, I wanted to check on you to see how your first day went."

Rachel moved her hair away from her coat and buttoned it. "It was great. I didn't realize how busy the center gets."

"Yeah, especially now with the holidays over."

"I figured I could work on what you need in the mornings and help the kids in the afternoons."

"Sounds good."

"See you tomorrow."

I gave Rachel a friendly smile and a nod as she left the center. Now, I had to figure out how to keep myself in check while working with her. That would be easier said than done.

Rachel

After leaving the center, I stopped by the restaurant to talk to Mercedes. When I arrived, I found Sofie, Odin, and a blonde hair guy sitting at the bar while Mercedes served customers.

I walked over to a stool, hung my coat and purse in the back, and sat down next to the blonde hair guy.

Sofie noticed me first. "Hey, Rachel."

"Hey."

"How was your first day at the center?"

"It wasn't bad." I shrugged.

"Oh, you haven't met Jordin yet." Sofie pointed to the blonde hair guy.

The guy was cute but not my type. He gave me a small wave as I gave him a nod.

Mercedes spotted me and made her way to me. "Hungry?"

"I need some advice."

"About Kyler?"

I nodded.  The others looked at me with curiosity.

"Did you not like working with Kyler?"

"Oh, no. I did. I've never met a nicer boss. That's the problem."

"What do you mean?"

"Kyler asked me to help him out with these random dates. I wasn't aware my job would consist of fielding dates for him." I heard snickering and looked at the three stooges sitting next to me. "What?"

"Good luck." Jordin snickered.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Our cousins set Kyler up on a dating site so he could land a date for the charity event," Odin said.

My brows lifted in surprise. "Wait. Kyler is your cousin?"

Odin and Jordin nodded. My eyebrows knitted, and my forehead creased.

"Our cousins adopted Kyler's old man like my dads adopted me," Jordin said.

"That makes more sense," I replied.

"And Kyler's mom is white," Odin added.

Jordin looked at Odin. "What difference does that make?"

"It would amaze you how people react to mixed children," Odin responded.

"I don't think it matters as long as the person's nice," I mentioned.

Everyone looked at me in surprise.

"I just wanted some advice about helping Kyler field his dates," I added.

That was a lie. I hated the idea of helping Kyler to get a date with another girl. But then again, it's not like I had any say since he was my boss.
