I finished a car and pulled it into an empty parking spot. I was walking into the garage when Dad approached me.

"What are you working on next?"

"I haven't checked the orders. Why?"

"A customer brought this car in that looks ready for the scrap yard."

"So why are we looking at it?"

"The person has some weird ass attachment to it. Would you check it out?"

"Yeah, sure." I shrugged and walked toward the car. I recognized the vehicle. Shit.

The person turned around and groaned. "Great. I wasn't expecting you to be here."

"I work here." I arched my brow.

"I couldn't have someone check out Betsy?" Sam crossed her arms.

"No one will touch it."

Sam lowered her arms. "But it's Betsey. I can't throw her away."

I looked at Sam and shook my head. "Fine. Pop the hood."

Sam popped the hood.

I lifted it, propped it, and checked out the car. "I can't believe you still have this car."

"It's been reliable until recently." Sam shrugged.

"I remember when you bought her. We spent countless hours restoring her."

"Now you understand why I can't get rid of her."

I glanced at Sam. She was still beautiful, if that was even possible.

"What do you think?"

I dropped the hood, blew air past my lips, and wiped my hands on a rag. "Betsy would need a complete overhaul. It would take time."

"I will do anything if you save my baby."

"Anything?" I arched my brow.

"Anything. Just name the price."

"Okay." I turned to her and crossed my arms. "You can help me."

Sam's eyes widened as her jaw dropped. "What?"

"You want to save Betsy. That's my terms."

"What about money? I can pay you."

"Nope. You either help me, or Betsy heads to the scrap yard."

"That's blackmail!"

"I call it reasonable negotiations. Take it or leave it."

Sam pursed her lips and mulled over my deal. I narrowed my eyes to a slit and smirked.

"Fine."

"We'll work on it after the shop closes since I have other vehicles to work on."

"That's a dirty trick, Roman."

"Eh." I shrugged, walked away, and smiled.

I grabbed orders hanging up and prepared them. The restaurant was hopping. As I cooked, Daria carried a tub of dirty dishes into the kitchen. "I thought you were waiting on customers?"

"I can't until I turn eighteen now that the cat's out of the bag."

"That's because you can't serve alcohol."

"Thank you, Captain Obvious."

"Listen here, Thumbelina. No one needs your lip right now."

"Bite me."
