Oliver had to leave his new pet with Charlie and Nick for the night. Apparently, he had adopted his new, bald friend without consulting his roommate first. He called an hour after he had left, letting them know his roommate was okay with getting a cat. He said he needed to get some things like cat litter and food, and wondered if he could pick up Catrick in the morning. They didn't have a problem cat-sitting. Oliver had just done the same for them.
That evening, they streamed a few episodes of a show they liked, relaxing as they reminisced about the wedding the night before.
"It was quite posh," Charlie stated. His cheek was lazing on Nick's chest as he cuddled up on top of him.
Nick was resting on his back with Charlie in his arms as he twisted Charlie's growing black hair around his finger. "I know," he agreed with a chuckle. "They said they were going all-out, but that was..."
"Like a film," Charlie said for him.
"Yeah," he agreed as he gently played with Charlie's hair. "It was so fancy and traditional. I guess I didn't really expect it be like that for them."
"I always thought they would get married in the woods or something, barefoot in whatever colour outfits they pleased."
Nick smirked. "Like a bohemian, wood elf wedding?"
Charlie laughed, burying his face against Nick's chest.
He smirked, arched his neck and planted a kiss on the top of Charlie's head.
In response, Charlie nuzzled his face against his chest and look up at his fiancé.
Nick lovingly stroked Charlie's hair. Though he was hesitant, he wondered, "what do you see for us?"
Charlie smiled at him and gave it a little thought. He propped himself up on his elbows and dramatically cleared his throat. "Location: A chalet or something. Guests: Close family and close friends. Ceremony: something official, but not so traditional. Reception: dinner with our guests at a big table together like the family we are. Then, party. I just want something..."
"Intimate," Nick finished for Charlie, returning the favor from moments earlier.
"Mhm," Charlie agreed. "I just wanna share that day with you and the people who really know us, who really care. Not second cousins we've met twice, not our random best friend from the first grade..."
"Not family we can't stand," Nick added.
Charlie rested his cheek on Nick's chest and gazed at the television, waiting for Nick to give him feedback. Impatient, Charlie simply asked, "what do you think? Of the whole plan, I mean."
Stroking Charlie's cheek, Nick coaxed him to make eye contact again. "I think we should do it. The plan, I mean."
They both chuckled before Charlie readjusted his body so he could kiss Nick's lips. Nick met this kiss passionately, now taking Charlie's hair into his grip. As the moment intensified, Charlie sat back on his heals to take his jumper off.
Suddenly, his romantic mood vanished when he made eye contact with Catrick Stewart, Oliver's hairless new cat.
With the eyes of a wise old man, Catrick seemed to stare into Charlie's soul, looking down on him for reasons Charlie would never know or understand.
"Char?"
Settling back on the couch, Charlie crossed his legs and shook his head. "I know I'm a cat person, but that thing truly terrifies me."
