Elise's POV:

I woke up in a car with my head rested on the window and a jacket laid over me. I looked around but my eyes were a bit blurry and burned from sunlight. There was a driver in the front, Isaac in the passenger seat, Ivy next to me and Roman was across from me.

They were all asleep. "Uhm excuse me", I called out to the driver. "Where are we going?" I asked. "Mr Black made arrangements for a weekend trip, I cannot say where", he says.

"And it's killing me", Isaac groaned, stretching his arms. "He hasn't told you either?" I questioned, leaning next to his seat. "Back up princess I havent brushed my teeth yet and neither have you", he slide away from me and I scoffed, sitting back in my seat.

Roman and Ivy began to shift and woke up. "Where are we going?" I ask Roman. He's stretching and looking around the car. "Weekend trip", is all he says. I look at Ivy and she looks like she doesn't know either.

The car came to a stop and the driver announced that we were here. "Aw, Rome are you going to propose because I say yes", Isaac turned to him. I looked out the window and we were at a big cabin full of windows in the middle of the woods.

"Shut the hell up", Roman responds and gets out the car. The driver came out as well and grabbed our bags. So clearly we all woke up to one of Roman's suprises. Ivy walked with me from the road to the house, "a fire wouldn't be so bad out here, right"

I smiled at her and agreed.

We were getting settled and I took a early morning shower. The rooms and bathroom were so nice and comfortable. I went downstairs to the living room to watch a movie but I saw Roman playing chess by himself on the coffee table.

"Can I ask you something", I say, plopping myself on the couch. He doesn't take his eyes off the board but nods. "Why are we on this trip, I thought you would want to try and find your father?"

"You said you needed a break. I only planned on bringing you but Ivy insisted on coming and Isaac felt left out, so I made it a party", he answered. I barely remember last night, I was way too tired.

"Maybe I needed a break as well", he added. I opened my mouth to say something but Ivy was shouting my name and hoping down the stairs. Isaac not long after her. It's almost like wherever Ivy goes Isaac is not far behind.

"So what are we doing, it has to be something fun since this is like a vacation", Ivy says, sitting next to me with her legs crossed. "I was going to make popcorn", I got up and to the kitchen. I like mine with lots of butter, not too much but just enough for me.

I came back and Isaac was staring. He stood and sat back down. What was he doing? Ivy looked at him confused. "What are you looking at?" I asked giving the bowl to Ivy. "You're so small", he almost whispered.

"I know", I said. He tilted his head slightly still staring at my body. "Like really small. Are you 4'11, maybe 3'9", he asks. Now it sounds like he's joking. I hear Roman snickering on the floor. "I'm 5'6", I say bluntly.

He fixes his head and nods. "Ohhh... that's very small", he continues. I let out an annoyed sigh and say, " shut up Isaac." He smiles and throws popcorn in his mouth. He was ready to open his big mouth again but his phone rang.

Roman stood up too, I think it's because he thought the call had something to do with his father. Isaac stopped him and showed him his screen. "It's Sage", he said. Roman sat back down on the floor and Isaac left the room.

I almost forgot today was his mother's funeral, and none of us are there. "I'll be right back", I say and go outside. I look for a bush or a tree with flowers on it.

I found one. The tree seemed to be dying but there were a few white flowers on it. I picked them off and placed them in my hand. I had an idea and I as sort of surprised it would work, this morning on our way here when I woke up I saw a lake not far by.

I went back inside and handed them each a flower. Isaac's call was short so he joined us. "what are we doing?' Ivy asked. "Go get in the car", I say. Roman was hesitant and took too long to get up so I grabbed his hand and pulled him.

"Keep hold of your flower", I told them, mainly talking to Isaac who was about to throw his out the window. We reached the lake and all got out. "What are we doing here?", Roman asked me. "We were supposed to go to your mothers funeral today", I said. Their faces darkened and Isaac turned away.

"You don't have to treat it as a funeral, you can just stand here and think about her. Or what I wanted us to do was throw the flowers in the lake." I told.

"And what is that going to do? What is throwing a almost dead flower in a dirty lake going to do about the fact the she's dead", Isaac snaps. He was right, I don't know what I was thinking. I looked down at the flower in my hand and crushed it.

I go stand beside Roman, who was watching me. I open my hand and let the pieces of the flower fall. Now I felt embarrassed.

I felt a soft kiss on my cheek and Roman whispered, "thank you" I looked at up at him and he was almost smiling. I smiled back. I saw Ivy step towards the lake. "She paid for my college", Ivy sighed. "But I dropped out", she chuckled.

I didn't even know she was old enough for college. "She understood why and she offered me to stay in her home for as long as I needed, she's always been kind to me and I'll miss her", she said before dropping her flower in the lake.

Isaac threw his and walked back to the car. Roman threw his in the lake and followed Isaac. Ivy attempted a smile and she held my hand. "Don't feel bad, he cared for her a lot", she said.

When we got back to the cabin I changed into something more comfortable and Ivy and I were talking on the couch while Isaac and Roman had disappeared. Turns out she's twenty one and has a older sister and a niece. She's two.

"All I've got is Gunnar", I say. She looks at me with sad eyes and says, "Well now you've got me, Isaac, even if he's an asshole, and Roman", she said Roman's name with such pizazz. I am absolutely grateful for them all.

"Elise", someone called.

Isaac was standing behind me with his hands in his pockets, Roman was watching from the top of the stairs. He looked as if he had just gotten into trouble. "can I talk to you", he asks. I nod and walk to the kitchen.

"I want to say sorry, you were just trying to help and I wasn't making any effort", he says. "It's fine, I just wanted you guys to have that chance to say goodbye, I didn't", I tell him. He's not making eye contact but he's nodding.

He looked so upset. "You want a hug?" I question. He takes his hands out of his pockets and back away, "Hell no, I don't hug." I laugh and he holds up his hand for a high five instead. I give it to him and we go back to the living room.

Ivy was making us watch A Walk to Remember, she swears it's good. Ivy said Roman went to bed because movies weren't his thing. I actually wanted to hang out with him today. Ivy was on the couch across from me and Isaac sat on he floor under her.

But I was alone wrapped in throw blanket. "Scoot over", were the words I heard. I looked next to me and Roman stood in a black tank top and black sweatpants. I smiled, happy because he was here even though he doesn't really like movies.

I threw the rest of the blanket over his legs. "I thought you were going to bed", I whisper. He didn't answer me right away just put his hands on my waist and pulled me closer. "I couldn't sleep", he whispered or attempted because I could still hear that deep ass voice.

I started blushing, but thank god it's dark. Oh, his nightmares. What if they got worse after his mother died? But his hand on my bare thigh is what intruded my thoughts.

Caught me way off guard.

I was red hot, my face was burning. I think he noticed because he touched my cheeks with the back of his hand. I loved it though, he was tracing circles on the inside of my thigh until I had fallen asleep.
