Chapter 32

EVELYN'S POV

Ethan came back few minutes after Eros left. I noticed his mood looked sour after he returned from the call. I wanted to ask what the matter was but refrained myself. I guess he will tell me  what is going on with him once he is ready. I checked the time and it was 5pm so I reminded him he had a trip to make.

"I think you should start heading back" I reminded him

"You know it's an hour journey from here" I added.

"Of course...just wanted to inform you now before leaving. He was about to leave but I held him back a little.

"Wait..." I paused a little while before I continued

"Hope you are good?" I asked him and he just nodded. A thought came to my mind at that moment. Lately he hasn't talked about Maddison nor have I seen them together but what would I know, I have been in a world of my own for more than two weeks now dealing with my own things.

I wanted to still probe further and ask him about Maddison but I sensed now isn't a good time so I let him be.

"Just take care of yourself okay" I completed letting him finally go

"Of course " he replied with a smile which I know was forced because I know him too well.

"Call me when you get there" I shouted over my voice because he has already left the house and may not hear me if I didn't shout.

I locked the door and went inside to check on dad. He was already awake and seated. I felt his temperature and it was normal and I could see a little colour has returned to his face.

"My superman is getting his strength back" I joked with him jabbing him slightly on his arm, his stomach growled loudly

"And this superman is quite hungry" he replied me with a smile.

"Aye captain...I will report to the kitchen and get it done" I said in salute marching out. Once I was at the door I heard him laughing loudly and I felt happy.

I settled to make white sauce pasta and squeeze some apples for dad. Once the dinner was ready, I set the table and shouted aunt's name to come down while I headed to dad's room to call him. We all sat down and was having our dinner silently. It was kinda awkward since I was still a little angry with aunt Jasmine for what she said earlier and dad didn't seem to notice the awkwardness between her sister and I.

We were all done with the dinner so aunt Jasmine stood up and left after thanking me for the food but dad still stayed back while I was washing the dishes. Once I was done I cleaned the dishwasher and wiped my hands clean. Dad was still sitting in the dinning staring into space.

"Dad" I called out to him. He looked at me with a weak smile this time around

"Princess could you sit down I want to talk to you" he told me

I sat down picking my fingers, I tend to do that when I am nervous or a little bit tensed.

"Dad I am all ears you can go ahead" I told him

"Uhmmmm..." he cleared his throat before he continued

"Your aunt will be leaving this weekend and I will be going with her" he said looking at me to know my reaction

I quickly stood up causing the chair to fall down

"Aunt Jasmine is the one putting you through this right" I questioned him

"No she is not, this decision was your mum's " he said the last part lowly but I still I heard him

"What!!!" I shouted out of surprise

"Your mum made me promise her to move on quickly as I can and she knew I couldn't do it right here in this house. She contacted your aunt Jasmine way long before she even told me about"

Even in death mum wouldn't stop worrying about us

"She told me to go back with your aunt and to my formal life because you and her were the only reason I came here and settled in the first place. But princess it is really difficult for me to do it, I mean I can't leave you here all by yourself though she firmly believes your husband will do a much better job in keeping you happy than I can" dad said shedding a tear

I went to him and hugged him tightly and unknowingly I was shedding a tear too.

"Dad, on my own I will do so much better at taking care of myself but I am more worried about you" I voiced my main concerns

"Princess I will be very fine on my own too and besides I will not be all by myself over there. Atleast there will be more company for me to be with than here and I can't continue to keep you away any longer from your husband that would be selfish of me" dad said sobbing.

We sobbed in each other's arms and comforted one another that night. After our father - daughter moment dad retired to his room while I went to aunt's room to apologize for my actions in the morning. I acted without knowing anything and she didn't hold it against me either, I slightly knocked on her door before entering.

"Are you sleeping?" I asked her because her room light were all turned off

"I am trying to sleep" she told me turning on the bed lamp. I found my way to the bed and sat at the edge

"My dad told me, why didn't you tell me it was all my mum's idea. You let me totally misunderstand you in the morning. I am so sorry" I apologized. She stood up and sat on the bed taking my hands in hands.

"Munchkin it's okay, besides I will have you being angry at me than misunderstanding your mum's intentions besides would you have believed me if I told you it was your mum's wish at that time?" She asked me

"Probably" I responded wiping my eyes. I have been a crying mess all evening

"And I have a feeling that your husband is a good man too. I know right now things might not seem so rosy and blue but just give him time and you will know that your mum truly has a knack for being a good judge of character and for your dad you have nothing to worry about so just set your mind on your own home" she completed.

I thanked her and we said good nights, I retired to my bed exhausted from today's events ranging from Eros visits to Ethan's and then the after dinner saga. I checked my phone for Ethan's call to know if he has gotten home and saw a text from him. 

I put down my phone and closed my eyes, within minutes I was over taken by sleep.
