Chapter 40

EROS' POV

I woke up the next morning rejuvenated and feeling good about today. I went into my walk in closet and brought out my outfit for the interview. I brought out a tan coloured suit with a white button up shirt. I decided not to go with a tie and then laid my black shoe, socks and watch before heading to the bathroom to have my bath. Once I was done with my bath and putting on my outfit, I slicked my hair back with a hair gel and sprayed some cologne. I checked myself in the mirror and man do I look good? No I look dashing. After giving myself a once over look I took my work bag and headed downstairs.

Surprisingly as I got down I saw 2 steaming cups of tea with some bread and scrambled egg with Evelyn dropping the last plate of scrambled egg on the table which I guessed was for her because mine was already set.

"I thought we didn't have any groceries at all?" I asked her sitting down and adjusting myself on the chair

"Good morning to you too" She replied me
"Luckily we had some bread and egg so I made these out of them" she completed

"Pardon my manners, good morning dear and hope you enjoyed your sleep?" I asked her sipping from the cup of hot tea

"Yeah it was great, except I had to wake up earlier to prepare for a test I have this morning" she answered me.

Wow this is the longest conversation we have had in a breakfast table since our marriage. Our outing last night must have really done wonders than we could imagine. Unluckily for me I was done with my breakfast before I knew it.

"Thanks for breakfast and Goodluck on that test of yours. Uuhmm least I forget take this card and get some groceries on your way back and please don't say no" I pleaded giving her my 100 watts smile that is irresistible before heading out.

I got to the garage and decided to go with my black SUV. I headed to the company first to get a little work done and prepare myself mentally since this would be my first public interview and besides its not starting anytime soon. I still have three more hours before the interview starts. 30 minutes before we go live my assistant reminded me eventhough I was checking the time myself. I left the company for the channel station, it was just a 15 minutes drive from the company so I still made it on time with the 10 minutes to spare. I was ushered in and made to sit down. There wasn't need for make up since I nailed the looks already. They set the speaker for me and the final tests were run before the host completely took over.

"Good day ladies and gentlemen, netizens and viewers you are all welcome to today's show on Hot Shot Topics on Trending Matters. Our guest today is none other than the well known most eligible bachelor Eros Taylor the current CEO of EROS CORPORATION" after she rambled on and on with my introduction which I tried to drown with my thoughts and still look interested because we are on national television she finally finished. I mean the young lady practically blew my ears off with her noise while still ogling at me.

"So Mr. Eros honestly you were the least expected person in the show today so how come you are here. I mean our station and I am sure other stations must have sent out invitations to interview you countless times but has failed so why did you change your mind? She asked me. Really so that was the first question you could come up with amidst the thousand and one questions you could have asked I thought to myself.

"There is this saying by Demosthenes - By persistent labour may man attain to all excellence. All i can say is your station's resilience to bring me on their show is the reason why I am here today" I answered her confidently.

Well one thing I learnt from my research about interviews is that you should never be blunt or direct with your answers because trust me those medias can twist your words and draw to conclusions from what you did not say.

"Okay, the next question is... lately you have been involved in a scandal with the model Miss Claire Constantine so what do you have to say about those claims?" She finally asked me the long awaited question I have been looking forward to. At this point I sat down properly, crossed my legs and fixated my gaze at the screen.

"All I can say is to whomever that termed it a scandal did you directly or indirectly witness me having an affair with the Miss Claire? Did neither I nor Miss Claire publicly or privately state to you that we are seeing each other? Let it be known to everyone and anyone that is raising a preposterous assumptions from the supposed harmless picture of an official business meeting will be seen as defamation and slandering of my character and reputation and such a person will be sued and prosecuted for that" I answered in a serious but light tone.

The host cleared her throat probably from the intimidation I was exuding before she continued with the rest of the questions that I answered proactively. After the interview I met with the host and made sure to let her know that nothing from the interview should be edited, removed or added from what I did not say before I left the station. I got to the company and headed straight to Ivan's office to cool off and wait for the show to be aired and see people's reactions.

"So, how did it go?" Ivan asked me as soon as I entered his office.

"Well you have to see for yourself and let me know" I answered him taking a seat and turning on his television.

Few minutes later the show in which I stared in started to play and honestly I was nervous when I saw myself on TV. I just made myself a public figure now, thousands of people will begin to have interest in me and before you know it I will be a household name. This has been the main reason why I avoided interviews. I so much hate the attention it brings to someone's life. Minutes later the show ended.

"So, what do you think?" I asked Ivan

"I think this crisis is over" he answered me smiling and giving me the bro hug and I sighed a breath of relief I didn't know I was holding all along.

"How are things between you and Evelyn?" He asked me yet again

"Good...I think. I mean we went out yesterday night and this morning we even had a normal conversation over breakfast" I answered him excited

"Wait like you guys went out on a date?" He asked me shocked

"Nah...we went out on a calendar moron" I replied him

"Men... my friend is whipped already" he said laughing at me hardly

"I think it's time I got back to work, now this wave is over us" I said to Ivan leaving his office and going to mine whilst thinking of what Evelyn's reaction would be when she sees the interview.
