Chapter 64

EVELYN'S POV

So far I have been in direct contact with the private investigator and its been three days they have been following up on Ashley and Maddison. According to the PI there is nothing out of the ordinary between Ashley and Maddison. He has checked their records and even their call logs and everything came out clean but that doesn't mean they have been ruled out as the suspects. Emily on the other hand has gone MIA. Nobody has seen or heard from her. The address she gave Ivan as her resident address turned out to be fake. They checked the club that we met Emily that day and it turned out she wasn't a regular and when they tracked her number it was traced to a burner phone so we were back to square one with no leads.

I was on my bed laying down after I had breakfast with mum and dad when I got a call from Ethan

"Hello E, how are you doing dear" Ethan asked me as soon as I picked the call

"Do you want to hear the real truth or the universal truth?" I asked him sighing

"The real truth please and I have something important to tell you" he said urgently

"Truthfully I am not good. My marriage is in shambles and I haven't heard from my husband yet so I am not fine at all" I answered him

"Speaking of husband your husband just got back this morning. I saw him in the company and he wasn't looking good" Ethan said

"For real? Eros is back, where was he all these while. I think I need to get home to explain everything to him" I said breathlessly standing up from the bed

"Calm down your horses E. I still think you should give him time. From what I heard he got back this morning and he is still at the company so I doubt you will see him at home when you get there." Ethan outrightly said to me

"I know it's not going to be easy but try to be logical in this and keep your emotions at bay. You know your husband isn't really at the right frame of mind now and he might say somethings he doesn't mean and hurt you in the process, so just give him a little bit of time and space" Ethan completed

"Take care of yourself for the main time and know its not just you alone now but you and your baby" he said lastly before hanging up.

I know there are some truths in what Ethan said but how could I be calm and give him space  when I know that my husband is within reach and all I want to do right now is to rush to him, give him a tight hug and tell him that I love him. I was still in my thoughts when I heard a knock on the door.

"Yes who is there?" I asked the person at the other side of the door

"It's me dear" Mum responded

"Ooh mum please do come in" I told her

She came into the room with a file in her hand. When I saw the file my heart skipped a beat. The last time I saw a file we all know how everything went down.

"Evelyn darling a file was delivered to you just now by Eros' lawyer" she said handing me the file

"Mum I hope it is not what I think it is" I muttered

I took the file from her hand and opened it with shaky hands and and to my utmost dismay it was a divorce paper.

"Mum is the lawyer still downstairs?" I asked her with my heart beating fast

"Yes he is still there. What is the content of the file?" She asked me

I simply gave her the divorce papers and rushed downstairs to meet with the lawyer

"What is the meaning of those papers you just served to me?" I asked the lawyer outrightly as soon as I got down

"My client Mr. Eros Taylor would love for you to sign those papers and hand them to me. As you can see his part that needs his signatory has been signed already so it's just yours that is remaining" he responded to me

"I am not signing any damn papers you hear me. So you go back to your damn client and relay my message to him"

"I don't think there will be need for that because I will be relaying the message myself" I said going up to change my clothes and head to Eros Corporations.

I got to the room and mum was still staring at the papers lost in thought

"What has really come over my son" she said as soon as she saw me come into the room

"Mum don't worry this will be resolved as soon as possible okay. I am going to meet with him now" I told her

"Do you know where he is? I would love to go with you as well dear maybe hw will change his mind once he sees me" she said breathlessly

"Don't worry mum I got this and I can take care of this matter just trust me okay and Eros got back this morning he is at the company" I told her.

I readily dressed up and mum's driver took me to the company. I have been in his company before so when I hurriedly walked passed his assistant into Eros' office she didn't try to stop me. I stormed into Eros office with the divorce paper in my hand.

"What's the meaning of this?" I asked him throwing the papers on his table

"It is exactly what you are seeing there and didn't my lawyer tell you that I don't want to deal with you through out the course of this divorce"

"Sign the damn papers and give it to my lawyer and if you still have anything more to say then you go through my lawyer as well" he completed coldly

"So just because of some pictures you serve me divorce papers. Have you ever cared to listen to my own part of the story. You are just a selfish jerk that only gives a care about what rows your boat"

"Those pictures shows my wife in a compromising and intimate position with her supposed bestfriend whom they have nothing going on between them. I got those pictures tested to check for their authenticity and guess what they were 100% real so what else do you want to explain huh" he seethed angrily

"Are you doing all these to me because of Mabel. If you must know I am not Mabel and there is absolutely nothing going on between Ethan and I" I said out loud hoping to knock some sense into him with my words

"How did you know about Mabel" he asked me surprised

"Mum told me about Mabel and Everest and just so you know it wasn't your fault and stop living your life in guilt and thinking that every girl is like Mabel and that you would turn out like your brother"

He kept quiet after I said all that and assuming that his silence meant consent for me to explain myself so I did. I explained everything to him and every incident that happened when those pictures were taken but I left out the pregnancy part because I didn't want to dump the whole news on him all at once. I took the divorce papers on his table and shredded them into pieces

"I'm not ever gonna divorce you Eros or let you live your life without me as long as I am alive" I said to him after I have torn the papers into pieces. All of a sudden I felt lightheaded, weak and drained and the room kept spinning in circular motion and before I could tell Eros what was going on with me my legs gave out and I slumped to the ground.
