So um- I did not finish Camping Part 2 by Mid-August- oops-

NEITHER did I finish this prompt to my best capabilities... I really just wanted to get it finished before the NEXT prompt list is published HAHA (Wink that one has better writing than this I promise!)

Yes my schedule is packed, being drowned in school work is the norm, and my sanity is being held together by two men full of trauma and their own array of mental issues life is good!!

The general idea for this oneshot originally was a POV from a different Countryhuman, and seeing the Rusger relationship from their perspective. BUT ALAS plans fell through (I literally changed POV characters THREE TIMES before landing on the current one I have THREE unfinished drafts now). It would cover like Russia and Germany interacting with outside company, their general behaviour and also the POV Countryhuman's thoughts about them

I think I'll try to rewrite a better oneshot with this general idea again, one day 😭

But for now, I hope you enjoy reading!

America's New Year's Day Party, Las Vegas

After the whole commotion of counting down the clock to midnight, cheering, copious drinking, and horrendous fireworks, things were finally starting to calm down a bit at the party.

Switzerland was on his phone, scrolling through a barrage of photos, text messages and emojis that America had sent through the group chat.

It was scarily easy to get use to changes, to new circumstances. Handphones had only been popularized for common usage in 25 years give or take, a miniscule fraction of the centuries he'd lived, and yet, it was already deeply integrated into his everyday life, an unquestioned extension.

Switzerland sipped slowly from a bottle of beer, scrolling past yet another cluster of new photos. Friends laughing, posing for selfies and jumping into the frame, alight by the camera's flash, captured for a moment looking like normal, unassuming human people through the digital lens.

Once he looked up from the screen, the room was filled with so much colour again. Countryhuman flag colours in every corner, the faint gleam of brightly coloured irises, patterns on skin. The world gathered in one place.

It was, peaceful. Lively, an energy hummed through the air, pleasant and harmless like a cat's quiet purr. This was rare. It almost made him reluctant to drink, to not spoil the moment with the memories of when it used to not be like this.

Gleaming orange eyes flinted across the room from his semi-isolated spot on an armchair. A cluster of Southeast Asian Countryhumans were chatting animatedly among themselves by the pantry area, Thailand, Phil, Brunei, standing out the most with bright yellow flag colours. He glimpsed the Nordic cross in another cluster nearby, their striped patterns identifying them easily. Both junk food and ethnic food were being passed around in a constant freeflow, shared interculturally.

This was still an era of abundance. And yet again, everyone was so easily used to it again. Will they know how to be hungry? How to fight? Switzerland's expression blanched, and he quickly took a deep swing of beer to distract himself.

By a corner, on a couch teeming with people, his eyes landed on a familiar face, white, blue and red. Posture relaxed, tilted to the side with one leg crossed over the other, listening to Germany talk. Russia smiled briefly, and said something to add to Germany's point, which made those honey golden eyes shine, bursting into a laugh.

They were so romantic, chatting by themselves leisurely. He couldn't help but notice how soft Russia's eyes were when he looked at Germany, how his expression warmed with a faint, genuine smile. And Germany, enthusiastic and bright, brighter than he ever looked when presenting event his favourite topics in conferences, radiate with a sun-like happiness.

Cyprus, sitting on the other side next to Germany, quipped something else, and Germany shifted slightly to engage them in the conversation too, one leg raising to cross over the other. He emphasized his speech with his hands, moving with a certain tenderness when he gestured towards Russia.

It was so strange, so amazing how much they complimented each other. The way they mirrored each other's mannerisms, perhaps even unconsciously. An act of a type of long-lasting love Switzerland used to feel.

How the two of them managed to find each other was a wild mystery. Surely not happenchance, though, he was confident in that. Love always found a way.

"What are you doing all alone, Suiza?" Bolivia's voice popped up next to him, merely causing him to blink. Her figure slipped onto the armrest of his chair, leaning against its plush frame, red hair done up in plaits. Switzerland nodded subtly towards Russia and Germany's direction, adjusting his hold on the neck of his beer bottle.

"Oh, our beloved star couple? Don't they look sweet tonight." She laughed, cheeks dimpling with her smile. Switzerland let out a hum, reacting to his phone pinging again, with more photos, America's GIFs' filling up the group chat. He automatically went to tap on the files, swiping through pictures. More food and drink, Monaco and Kosovo doing shots together.

And one more than caught his eye. A photo of Germany and Russia probably earlier in the party, standing near the bar. The former dragging the latter into frame with an expression of mischievous delight, his arms wrapped around Russia's torso, hugging him from behind. He noticed that Germany smiled with the left corner of his mouth in the same quirked-up way like Russia did.

And that's the end of the 2024 prompt list!

It only took me one whole year to finish 7 prompts but whatever :D

To give you a bit of context, the first original idea for this prompt was supposed to be told from America's POV! Covering the full storyline of hosting the new year's eve party, with more characters and conversations. What you read above was supposed to be the final scene of this draft! The Switzerland POV was a bit of a last minute panic choice unfortunately ;-;

But yes, sorry again it's not the best, things are BUSY for me and it literally won't get easier until the end of this year... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you have a nice day/night!!
