PRESENT DAYAYAN'S POV
The silence was deafening as the group waited for someone to speak.
Ayan and her friends were sat in the car after a long day of classes and studying; random conversations and a meal of choice in a random empty parking lot, a tradition if you will.
"Okay well I'm not gonna say she had it coming but.." Anushka drawled out slowly. The youngest of the group, a musician and well rounded student. A wolf in sheep's clothing you could say, due to the french horn players innocently pretty looks. Although they didn't look the part, Anushka had a bold and daring personality. A very capturing person all together as eyes turned when they entered the room, both excessive beauty and confidence playing a part.
"Thank you! Oh brother, I knew I wasn't the only one who thought so." an airy voice let out. Skyy, the oldest of the group yet the most youthful. Her energy always bubbly and light as she brought joy to many. Eyes holding a constant sparkle, Skyy's features could be described as nothing less than gorgeous. She surveyed the rest of the group waiting for a response.
"No, you're right because she should've jumped a long time ago." Eman let out, holding back laughter.
"Agreed." Fahima chimed in, too immersed in her meal to say more.
"Um.." Ayan let out uneasily, carefully proceeding with her words.
Four sets of eyes started back and the girl curiously, hanging onto her every word.
"So I actually didn't watch the movie ye-" she began.
"BOOOO!"
"Tomato, tomato, tomato."
The car broke out into an outrage of emotions.
"Well," Ayan shouted to gather attention. "I didn't have time as I am employed, unlike some of you." She finished, emphasizing specific words.
"Be fucking for real. Volunteering isn't being employed. Unless you're receiving paycheques the rest of us are unaware of?" Fahima questioned from the backseat.
Giggles and a chorus of laughter erupted, Ayan soon joining in. The crinkles adorning her eyes making an appearance as she smiled genuinely. Ayans alluring features were noticed by many. High cheekbones and beautiful features giving her the appearance of a model. Regardless it looks, her personality is what drew most in.
The kind and compassionate girl partook in community and volunteer work, making herself known within the city. She often helped out at shelters, events and care homes never expecting anything in return. A true 'angel from above' as her friends described her.
"Alright now hop off," managed Ayan through snickers.
The friends continued to converse and laugh unaware of the eerie presence lurking on the outskirts of the parking lot.
Ayan turned to check her surroundings after chilling rush ran up her spine, but the lot was empty.
"Maybe we should head home? It's getting late." suggested the girl as she couldn't shake the sinking feeling.A series of responses were let out in agreement as they began the drive home.
"Make sure you guys are ready by 7pm tomorrow, the game starts at 7:45 and I want good seats." warned the basketball fanatic, Skyy.
The semifinals were tomorrow. This determined whether or not their school would be playing in the finals for the first time in years.
Ayan was a fan of events like these, excited to be surrounded by peers with the tension and energy at its peak. Plus, apparently the school always went all out for the games.
"Sounds good, get home safe!" hummed out Ayan in a singsong tone, walking into her house.
The cautious girl locked her door, treading lightly through the house as she began her nightly routine.
'Tomorrow's gonna be a fun day' Ayan thought to herself as she drifted off to sleep.
Oblivious to the event that would take place, forcing the group of friends to be in a state of paranoia; day after day, again and again.
