[ TW: Murder(?), Stabbing, Gore, a SHIT TON of blood...um...yeah. I'll add a TLDR at the bottom so if anybody doesn't feel comfy with these topics, they can still know what happened in this chapter. also a lot less talking in this chapter compared to the last one! yipee! ]
Jack sighed, watching the portal close. He didn't want to leave, but...he needed to. He had work to do, and the memory of DaveTrap was still in his head. He turned around and noticed that something was off. The lights flickered. The room was a lot messier than he remembered it, more things on the floor, the door opened wide. It was like someone had gotten in and was looking for something. His mind immediately went to DaveTrap, but then tried to calm himself down by telling him that it could just have been a normal robbery. Probably the only time he had ever thought of a robbery as a comfort.
He walked through the door and took a glance down the hallway, the boards creaking with every step he took. The smell of something metallic was the first thing that he noticed. The walls had crimson streaks on them. He wasn't sure if it was blood, though. He stopped to listen for anything, like footsteps or breathing. All he could hear was the storm raging outside. He snuck over to the other side of the hallway, muffling his breath with his hands. His heart was thundering like the storm as he panicked. After checking the downstairs from the top of the stairs, he concluded that no one was here.
He slithered down the stairs, his hand clutching the railing. His breathing was rapid, shallow and uneasy. The downstairs was worse than the upstairs. It was a lot messier, more things knocked over. His microwave was on the floor, glass shards surrounded it, like a pool of blood. Speaking of blood, the walls had blood dripping from it.
Okay, so yeah. This isn't a normal theft. Shit. Jack thought to himself.
The lights flickered again as he looked around. He had just noticed that the window had been broken, and that there was more broken glass on the floor, as well as rainwater. He flinched, the water bringing the glass along, making it creeping towards him. Jack then turned his attention to the door, noticing the scarlet lines on it. It took a while for the words to register, as the handwriting was shit, but finally, he could make out what it said.
{ WHERE WERE YOU, OLD SPORT? } The writing read. Or, at least, that's what he thought it said, as it was kinda hard to read with the letters dripping with blood. He knew for sure it was DaveTrap. I mean, who else would say Old Sport and have shitty handwriting? His brain went to flip-side Dave, wishing he was with him. Then, he remembered something. When he was introducing Dee to Dave, he had called Dave his boyfriend.
"Fuck." He cursed, not realizing that he had spoken out loud for a second. "He probably hates me now..."
Now he had two reasons to go back to the flipside. For comfort, and to say sorry for calling Dave his boyfriend. Dave probably didn't feel the same way, was probably mad at him for suggesting such a ridiculous thing, and for sure was angry that Jack was such a fucking burden.
He was careful to not step onto anything as he walked upstairs, even jumping over some fallen furniture in his path. Once he got to the upstairs, the lights flickered again, this time staying in the dark for longer than last time. Jack wondered if the lights flickering had to do with the storm outside, also wondering what would happen if he was in flipside when the power went out. Would he be trapped, as the arcade machine was powered by electricity, or would he be kicked out like a game server? But whatever would happen, it didn't matter. He just wanted to be with Dave, even if it was for a split second. Jack walked into his workshop, the arcade machine in the middle of the room, surrounded by a sea of tools and papers. The screen on it flashed with the lights and turned off with the lights as well, the energy source unstable.
