Buffy's POV:

I giggle as Kai looks at me with a cocoa mustache and I grab a napkin then leave over and softly wipe it off.

"Oh forgive me. I didn't notice I was a mess," she says licking her lips slightly and I just smile admiringly at her.

"What?" Kai chuckles softly, setting her cup of cocoa down on the small table we're sitting at in the Cafe.

I shrug, "you're cute. I really like your accent and the way you talk is soothing." She smiles almost shyly at me and looks at her hands.

"Thank you, love. I find talking to you easy if that makes sense," Kai says with her eyebrows furrowed slightly.

I smile at her while feeling my cheeks get warm slightly. "It does because I feel the same way about you. Especially since you know my darkest secret," I tell her smiling sadly.

Kai slides her hands over with her palms up and I set mine on hers with a confused look. "Please don't think what you do is dark, love. You're like a vigilante at night and getting rid of the bad guys. You protect those who can't protect themselves and you do it without a second thought," she softly says rubbing her thumbs over my knuckles.

I blush when she lifts my hands to her mouth and plants a kiss on each. God, she's making me swoon and fall for her harder.

"You know I never thought of it like that," I respond tilting my head trying to will my blush away but it's obviously not working from the way she's smiling at me.

I smile shyly at her and look away to hide my blush but a soft hand cups the side of my face and gently guides me back.

"Don't hide from me, love. You look beautiful," Kai gently tells me softly rubbing my cheek with her thumb. Our eyes connect. Her eyes are so beautiful.

Our moment gets interrupted by my phone going off. "Sorry, it's my mom," I apologize and she gives me an understanding smile.

I answer it quickly, "hello?" Whatever it is better be important, mom.

"Hunny, it's already 9:30. I just wanted to know if you were ok," she responds softly making me gaze soften up at that.

"Yeah I'm fine, mom. I'm with Kai at the Expresso Shop," I inform her with a small smile.

"Kai? As in thee Malakai you've been gushing about these past few weeks?" Mom says in a teasing voice making me blush brightly and thank my lucky stars that I don't have her on speaker.

For a second I see Kai's smile turn amused before she takes a drink of cocoa. Can she hear? Nah, there's no possible way she could. I clear my throat unexpectedly.

"Y-yes. Mom, I gotta go. I'll be home in a bit," I stutter slightly and trace a small circle figure on the table.

Mom chuckles, "alright. See you soon, sweetie. Maybe you can invite your crush over for dinner-."

"Bye, mom!" I hang up quickly and chuckle awkwardly a little making Kai smile at me amused before setting her cup down, "sorry about that. My mom wanted to know when I'll be home."

"It's quite alright, love. It is getting late so we should be going soon. I don't want to put a damper on the mood but I don't want to be seen as a bad influence on you to your mum," she says giving me an apologetic smile.

I smile softly at how thoughtful she's being. "No worries. I get it. Although I wish this amazing evening wouldn't end," I sigh heavily and stand up with her.

She chuckles softly, "I am terribly sorry for this interruption, love. But it doesn't have to end. We still have our date tomorrow." She smiles at me and cleaned up the mess we made on the table which isn't a lot.
