Malakai's POV:

"Are you sure you won't get in trouble with Giles?" I quietly ask as I walk along side Buffy on the side walk that's connected to Weatherly Park.

She glances at me and nods. "I probably will but I don't care. You don't have to do this, Kai," she quietly says as we stop in front of the fence blocking it off.

I shake my head instantly, "no no I want to do this, love. I've done this countless of times and who can pass this honor up of working along side the slayer." I wiggle my eyebrows making her giggle quietly and swat my arm.

"Shut up," she chuckles before turning serious, "I just don't want you to get in trouble or get hurt out here."

I raise an eyebrow with a smile and lean my hand on the gate next to her head. "Why Love, are you worried about me?" I ask and she nods with a serious expression.

"Of course I am, Kai. You're a hunter yes but you're still human. You can't bounce back from injuries like I can," she responds raising her hand to cup my face gently.

Oh love there's so much I can handle but you can't know it yet. "I understand the risks I'm taking, Buffy. I'm always careful and plan ahead. This is my family's legacy and we've been trained to do this since 13 years old. I'll be okay," I inform her and reach up to take her hand off of my face to hold with both of mine.

I hope that eases her worries. She shouldn't be worried. "Okay but promise me that you'll be extra careful," she reluctantly says and I nod.

"Of course," I say with a nod and gesture to the fence, "ladies first." I wink and she chuckles while climbing the fence easily.

I scale the fence and jump down next to her. We walk through the park. This park would be a great place to walk through during the day.

Suddenly a homeless man goes in front of us and I immediately move in front of Buffy. "Shouldn't be out here at night, little ladies. It's dangerous," he slurs out and walks off.

Okay then. I glance back to Buffy who shakes her head. She grabs my arm and pulls along towards a another homeless man that's laying down on the ground.

He's still alive. I can hear his heartbeat. Buffy kneels down a bit and gently shakes his leg. The man snores loudly and jerks in his sleep.

Buffy backs away and stood up. We continue our way through the park cautiously. If I was human and there was no supernatural, I wouldn't be walking in a dark park like this at night.

Growling caught my attention. "Buffy!" I say grabbing her and pulled her down quickly, dodging the claw of the vampire.

I twirl a bit and kick my leg out hitting the creature in the face. It grunts in anger and Buffy punches him. We dodge his attacks and I kick the side of his leg making him snarl as he falls to his knee.

Buffy gives him a strong boot to the chest and he flies back. "Hold it! Police!" A man yells out from up the hill and I turn my head finding the 'drunk' homeless man with a flashlight and gun. A few more feds are with him.

The vampire growls lowly and runs off. Shit! "Spread out! Find him!" The fed calls out. Great. I grab ahold of Buffy's hand and pull her away.

We run after the vampire. I can't use my speed right now. Damn it. As we catch up with him, he's already over the fence and stalking a woman with groceries.

The woman turns around revealing our sub Ms. French. Why is she out here so late? The vampire reels back hissing and runs away.

What the hell? He runs to a manhole and goes in quickly. I glance at Buffy in confusion. Why didn't he attack Ms. French?
