Kai's POV:

Buffy and I jog towards our class since we're beyond late because of seeing the therapist. Which honestly was a waste of our time.

We stop in front of the door and Buffy peeks in. "Oh, great. A pop quiz," she sighs heavily and I peek over her head finding the others doing a pop quiz.

Ooh. Miss French goes rigid and I watch as her head begins turning completely around. Shit! I quickly pull Buffy away from the window and held her in my arms.

She gasp quietly and looks up at me with wide eyes. Miss French is definitely not human. Buffy gestures with her head to the side and I nod so she grabs my hand then pulls me along with her.

We go down the hall and turn down another one. "Well she's definitely not human. But now the question is what is she?" I spoke up softly making Buffy look at me.

"Something I'm sure Giles would know," she responds and I nod with a small hum.

"As would my aunt. I need to make a phone call, love. I'll meet up with you at the library," I say stopping us briefly in the middle of the hallway.

She nods then leans up to press a kiss next to my lips. "I'll see you soon. Be careful," she tells me and I nod with a smile.

I watch as she turns around and strides off into the direction of the library. I dig into my pocket and pull out my phone.

I flip it open and pull the antenna out before dialing Athena's cell. It rings a couple of times before she answers.

"Is everything alright, Malakai? Do you need me there?" Is the first thing she says once she answered.

I chuckle softly and run a hand through my hair before letting it fall. "No I don't need you here, Thena. I need you and a few others to do some research. See if you can find anything about a creature that can twist its head completely around. It can take a human shape form as a woman. Get back to me immediately if you find anything," I inform her as I begin walking towards the library just as the bell rings and kids begin filing out of classrooms.

"Of course I will. Goodbye, Malakai," she responds quickly and I bid her a farewell then hung up and slid my phone back in my pocket.

My family meets me halfway and I quickly inform them in a low whisper of what's happening. "Her head completely turned around? Like," Tobi questions and makes circle motion with his finger.

I nod stiffly, "yes completely. Obviously she's not human and a Vampyr is scared shitless of her so what is she?"

"Well a Praying Mantis is the only thing that can rotate its head 180 degrees while waiting for its next meal to walk by. They're deadly afraid of bats because they're it's pray," Amelia informs us as turn down the hall to library.

"She's a shapeshifter then. It would explain why she reeled back when ever she would approach us since you said your father was like a descendant of a bat," Katherine comments and I snap my fingers.

"Of course. Remember in the 1830s, we came across one but paid it no mind since we don't really care for those demons. Our mission is going after the Vampyrs. Tobi, call Athena and tell her to forget it. We've figured it out already. Come on. We must inform the others of this," I announce quietly and they nod while Tobi pulls out his phone.

I push open the library door and let the girls go first before following since Tobi is making the call. "Guys, we've figured it out. She's a praying mantis shapeshifter. Those are rare but not uncommon," I spoke as I walk near the table their sitting at.
