In a London street, a hooded woman was fighting hard against a band of Blighters. The Templars had been coming back in force for some time, and she and other Assassins were on the case. One of the first initiates of the Brotherhood was defending herself after being spotted for being clumsy while moving around, she who was usually so quiet. But sleep deprivation and the missions that filled her days, increasingly futile for her, were wearing her down. It was becoming more and more difficult for her to continue, and yet she still insisted on fulfilling her objectives.

Just as she had dodged a stab from one of her opponents, she took a blow to the back of the head. She was stunned and wobbly for a few moments before turning to face the assailant who had struck her in treachery. She did not have time to act as she was hit in the face by a knuckles Blighter. Already dazed by the collision in the back of her head, the brunette almost collapsed. Although she was still standing with her arms spread, she leaned forward to regain her balance, but too much so, giving her two opponents the occasion to give yet another blow that would put her down this time. The second did not hesitate to hit her elbow between the shoulder blades. She gave in and fell, flat on her stomach, her cheek in the mud. As she rolled to the side to try to get up and rebalance the fight despite the number of opponents.

The Blighters continued to hit her, while she tried to protect herself by cowering in spite of her condition, holding back her groans of pain. She did not want to give them the satisfaction. A man in a red jacket got up from the blow Victoria had dealt him a few minutes earlier. He retrieved his penknife and walked towards his accomplices and imitated them. They all insulted him and hid on him. The one who had just got up wanted to take revenge for what she had done to him. He violently planted his small blade in the ribs of the brunette, who screamed in pain, creating an opening for the other Blighters. They took the opportunity to punch her in the face and stomach.

The brunette felt her strength begin to fail her. Normally, she would have succeeded in neutralizing them and would have continued her spying mission discreetly. But fatigue had given her no advantage. Then, despite the cries and groans of pain she was slowly letting go, she had a thought for Jacob. Despite her abuse, her heart was pounding, her throat tightened and the tears that ran down her cheeks were those of her love for him and her regret. She received a stab wound, which further mutilated her skin and flesh, in addition to the kicks and punches.

An Orphan witnessed the violence that Victoria was facing. The fear that had overtaken him drove him to seek out Clara, their representative, their spokesperson to the Assassins. He fled the area silently before shouting the name of the teenager who was looking after him and hundreds of other orphans. When he reached their shelter, he gasped at the door, startling the other children and the long-braided brunette, who was nursing a six-year-old boy.

"What's the matter, Ernest?" she said, getting up.

"It's Victoria, Clara. She's going to be killed by the Blighters. We have to save her!"

The leader of the Orphans hiccupped in surprise and asked where the endangered Assassin was. As soon as she had the location, she ordered the ten-year-old brown man to finish tending the child in her care. She headed for the door and warned that she was going to look for Jacob. She knew he had been back from India for a few days. She hoped to find him at the train. To maximise her chances of finding him, she informed the Rooks that she was looking for him. She could very well ask them to take care of the Blighters or Victoria, but she knew that Jacob would be much quicker than his gang to reach the brunette in distress. She finally found Jacob in Lambeth, drinking a beer at the bar, telling Frederick Abberline about his time in India. The slamming of the door and the bell alerted the clientele, including the two friends. She scanned the room until she came upon them and went to them immediately.
