I prefer to warn, the short story takes place before and at the end of the Jack the Ripper DLC. It's best if you've done the game or followed a let's play before reading it. I've also slipped you a "movie version" of the DLC if you want to (sa)see what happens in the ellipsis. - If that's not adorable from me? On that note, I wish you a good read!

Whitechapel, London, Summer 1888

The brunette took another blow to the face. The phobic gas, which had invaded her body, prevented her from reacting to the blows her opponent was giving her. The voice of the man who hit her was loud and deep, he shouted words that were barely intelligible to her. The mask on his face, made of a linen bag with holes in the eyes, hid his mouth and his voice. The Assassin struggled to stand up to her opponent who had been terrorising London for a month and a half. She had been hit on the head in her fall. She was almost knocked out.

"You joined the Creed so that no one would suffer. And in the end, you failed miserably. As did Jacob."

The masked man in the top hat got down on one knee and watched the woman whimper and wince in pain. She was in bad condition.

"Stop it Jack..." the forty year-old brunette moaned. "J-Jacob... doesn't..."

"You deserve to die like the others."

"Don't forget w-who you are... Jack... You're... You're not a monster."

"Spare me the sweet talk. You won't stop me from sending you to Hell with the rest of them, following your long dead creed!"

A door opened suddenly behind him. A man shouted the name of the Assassin on the ground, at the mercy of his bloodthirsty opponent. Still on his knees, he turned towards the source of the noise. The brunette raised her head and tried to call out her mentor's name:

"Jacob!"

Despite the weakness of the voice, the Master Assassin heard his former student and moved into the room where she was. Jack gassed the brunette with a phobic bomb, to prolong the effect of fear. Then, in this cloud of smoke, he fled.

Jacob finally arrived in the room and ran to the hooded woman, who was screaming and crying. He took a firm hold of her arms and, despite the severity of his tone of voice, slowly shook her and tried to calm her down. She tried to struggle, thinking Jacob was a monster.

"It's me, Victoria... Calm down. I'm here. It's alright..."

The brunette slowly stopped hitting the arms of the Master Assassin who had abandoned his top hat with age. She remained motionless for a few moments, the time it took for tears to well up in her eyes. She finally realised that it was her former mentor.

"J-Jacob..." she whispered with a sob.

She melted into his arms and cried her eyes out. Jacob hugged her gently and held her close for comfort.

"He... Jack has gone mad... He's..."

"Shhh... It's over Victoria. He has left.

"He's killed so many people... he's going after our friends now..."

He separated himself from her by a few inches, putting his hands on her arms and looking at her, hoping to make eye contact with her eyes. He didn't have to wait long for the brunette's eyes to lock with his.

"I'll stop him, Victoria. But for now, we need to get out of here and treat your wounds."

"I don't want to go home. I don't want to be alone," she begged tearfully.
