A Family for us. [HAITUS] Beidou x Ningguang fic

What do I do Kazuha!

Beidou was packing the boat, getting ready for inazuma. The trip was about 3-4 weeks long, with an extra week for the ride back, if weather was on her side.

"Captain, you have been spaced out lately," Kazuha said from his perch.

"Heh, you noticed too."

"Whats on your mind?"

"Kazuha, I need your help. Know any engagement ring vendors in Inazuma?" Beidou said jokingly.

Kazuha gave Beidou that look

"After, what. 6 years of dating, you finally want to ask her?"

" I know it been a long time, but I just have this feeling. Seeing her makes me wanna drop on one knee, unprepared, make a fool out of myself."

"You know...we will make it back to Liyue before lantern rite," Kazuha suggested.

"You know what kid. Thats not a half bad idea," Beidou said ruffling his hair.

Kazuhas heart warmed at her calling him kid. Beidou had found Kazuha when he was just a small boy, maybe around 7-8. Beidou, being the stupid 17 year old she was, took this boy under her wing. That was 9 years ago.

"So propose to Ningguang lantern rite, and hope it goes well? What if she says no? What if shes not ready? What if...."

The what-if's continued the whole time she was packing.

-Before Beidous departure-

"Please be carefull," Ningguang straightened her collar. Plucking out any loose feathers.

"Yes, yes. I know."

"Im going to miss you dearly. How long do I have to suffer for until you come back?"

"Like 5 weeks? Maybe more?"

Ningguangs expression changed to a sad one.

"I promise ill come back as quick as I can."

"Please do."

"K, my crews waiting for me. And im gonna be hearing about this the whole way there."

Beidou pulled Ningguang into a long kiss, grabbing her face, Ningguang tried to deepen the kiss, makeing it last longer.

"K, I really got to go-"

Ningguang shut her up with another kiss.

"K, go! I love you," Ningguang said, signaling her to go.

"I love you more." Beidou started walking until she stopped, turned around, and wrapped Ningguang in a hug.

"One last hug before I leave."

"Its going to be night by the time u get on ypur ship."

Beidou ran to her ship, signaling to raise the sails. She ran to the back of the boat, waving to Ningguang who waved back.

Ningguang stayed until she could no longer see the crux, she wiped a stray tear from her face, then went back to the Jade Chamber.

-Beidous pov-

"Whats the weather looking like up there!" Beidou yelled to the crew member in the crows nest.

"It looks clear for now, I see a tiny storm brewing!"

"Okay, thank you!"

Beidou went to her office, turned on her gas lamp and sat down at her desk.

"I shoulda stayed home, in Liyue. Oh! Right! Designs for that ring. Hm.. im to tired for this."

Beidou put her head in her arms, trying to ease the emptyness she feels without Ningguang.

-Ningguangs side-

"Drowning yourself in work, huh?"

Ningguang raised her head to see the Yuheng of the Liyue Qixing, looking at her.

"Yes, I suppose. Are you heading home?"

"Unfortunately, per girlfriends orders. Ganyu might pop in later to sign out."

"Sounds good, have a good night Lady Keqing."

"Night, Lady Ningguang."

Keqing exited the room, she stopped at Ganyus Office.

"Hey, YuYu."

"Keqing."

"I know, I know. Im heading home, but you should come home soon."

"Ive got a few more things to do, but yes. I will be home shortly." Ganyu returned to her paper

"Okay, mind if you pop by Ningguangs office. It always works when you tell her to stop working. Ever since Beidou left, shes drowning herself in work."

"Yeah, that shouldn't be a problem." Ganyu said raising her head, giving Keqing a warm smile.

"Ill see you at home?" Keqing asked.

"Yes dear."

Keqing pushed to hair on Ganyus forehead, placing a quick kiss where her hand had been.
Then placing a kiss on her lips.

"Dont stay up too late, okay?"

"Okay."

Keqing brought her index finger to touch Ganyus nose, "Booooop!" Keqing said as she touched her nose.
Ganyu looked down at her nose, then at Keqing.
"Bye, Yu," Keqing said before turning around and leaving the room.

Ganyu returned to her work, 2 hours passed before she dropped her pen on the table, grabbing her coat and bag. Shutting off her lantern, then locking her office.

She made her way to Ningguangs office.

"Lady Ningguang, may I come in?" She said, knocking on the door.

A soft "come in" was heard.

"Im heading out for tonight." Ganyu said.

"Ah okay, sounds good," Ningguang said, rushing to get her work done.

"You should turn in for the day, no? Its almost 2 in the morning." Ganyu said, looking at the clock on the wall.

"Its already that late huh?" Ningguang said, placing her pen on the table.

"Well, dont stay up too late. Ill see you tomorrow," Ganyu said, placing her finished documents on her table before exiting her office.

3 hours past. Ningguangs still working. Getting up, she walked to her kettle. She picked up the kettle and filled it with water, turning the stove on to start boiling the water.

Once the water was boiled, she took out her favorite mug, it wasn't pretty. But it was a gift from Beidou when they were kids. Shes held that mug very close to her.

Placing a teabag into the mug, she filled it with hot water, waiting for her tea to steap.

She blew on the top, in attempt to cool it down. Taking a sip, "still to hot." , she grabbed something liquid to cool it down. Ningguang poured the water into her cup.

Taking a sip, the tea tasted bitter with a strange after taste.
