Ningguang sits on the couch, her face pale and eyes puffy from the emotional toll of her recent miscarriage. Beidou kneels in front of her, gently holding her hands.
"Ningguang, my love, you haven't eaten anything since yesterday. You need to nourish yourself, especially after what you've been through, and what's to come." She says softly.
Ningguang looks down at her untouched plate of food, her appetite diminished by grief and sadness.
"I can't, Beidou. I have no appetite. Eating just feels like a chore right now." Ningguang says as she takes her hands back to wipe tears from her eyes, she then buries her face in the palms of her hands.
Beidou's eyes well up with tears as she reaches out, brushing a strand of hair away from Ningguang's face.
"I feel empty, Beidou. My heart aches, and I can't sleep at night. It's like everything has lost its meaning. How can I find the strength to move forward when all I feel is this emptiness?" she continued.
Beidou's grip tightens on Ningguang's hands, her eyes reflecting both sorrow and determination.
"Ningguang, grief takes time. It's okay to feel lost and empty right now. But we need to lean on each other, right? Together, we can navigate through this darkness." Beidou rubs her thumb on Ningguangs hand.
Ningguang looks into Beidou's eyes, searching for a glimmer of hope.
"I want to believe that, Beidou. I want to believe that we can find happiness again, even after this pain. But right now, it feels impossible."
Beidou leans forward, placing a gentle kiss on Ningguang's forehead.
"Ningguang, I love you with all my heart. We'll take one step at a time. I'll be here to listen, to hold you, and to remind you how much I love you. We'll find a way to heal together."
Ningguang's eyes meet Beidou's, her walls slowly starting to crumble as she sees the unwavering love and support in her fiancées' gaze. Ningguang breaks into tears, unable to contain her emotions. Beidou envelops her in a secure, tight, and loving embrace. Beidou wraps her arms tightly around Ningguangs waist, pressing her body tight against hers, making sure Ningguang knew she had someone.
Ningguang desperately tried to feel closer to Beidou. Her hands have a mind of their own, trying to find something to grab onto. Ningguang grabbed Beidous's head, pulling it as close as she can.
"Ningguang, my love, I wish I could take away all the pain you're feeling right now. You're so incredibly strong, and I'm here for you, through every tear, every ache."
Ningguang's lips quiver as she listens to Beidou's soothing words, finding solace in the warmth of her presence.
"It hurts, Beidou."
"What hurts sweetness?" Beidous voice turned concerned. Scaning her body for any physical harm.
"I had so many dreams for our baby, and now... they're gone. I feel lost like a piece of me is missing."
Ningguang's eyes well up with tears as Beidou wipes them away, her touch gentle and comforting.
"Time will help heal our wounds, my love. The ache may never completely fade, but we'll learn to carry it with grace and strength. Our love will be the balm that soothes our hearts."
Ningguang's breath catches as she looks into Beidou's eyes, the depth of their love reflecting in the moonlit room.
"But, Ningguang, please. You need to eat something. It's been days since you've had a proper meal. Your body needs nourishment, my love."
"I can't, Beidou. Food has lost its taste. like I told you I just... I don't have the appetite." She says, whiping the tears from her eyes.
"I understand, Ningguang. It's painful, and the grief is an overwhelming feeling you can't shake. But refusing to eat won't bring our baby back. Im sorry, but its the truth. We need to take care of ourselves, for each other, and for the possibility of a future."
Ningguang's eyes fill with tears, and she buries her face in Beidou's shoulder, seeking comfort.
"I know it's hard, but your body needs strength to heal, both physically and emotionally. I'm gonna make you eat whether you like it or not. if you get malnourished, I have no choice but to bring you back to the hospital where they will give you food, and it won't be solid and it won't go through your mouth. Take it from me, it's horrible."
"I'm scared, Beidou. Scared of forgetting, scared of moving on, scared of trying again."
Beidou holds Ningguang gently, letting her tears flow, providing a safe space for her to express her pain.
"We'll never forget, Ningguang. Our baby will always be a part of us. And we don't have to rush anything. We'll take it one step at a time, together. But right now, please, let me take care of you."
"..."
"Just a little, okay? For me?"
"..."
"Here comes the airplane~ *airplane mouth noises*" She brought the spoon closer to Ningguangs mouth.
Ningguang grins softly at the action bc and takes a hesitant bite of the food, her eyes flickering with a hint of resistance.
"It tastes bland..."
"Way to insult my cooking...jeez" Beidou whispered
"That's it, Ningguang. One bite at a time. I'm very proud of you." She whispers.
As Ningguang continues to eat, Beidou remains by her side, offering words of reassurance and small gestures of comfort.
Ningguang finished the bowl of soup Beidou had prepared for her. An overwhelming urge to sleep filled her brain.
"Did you spike my soup?"
"No no, honey. I infused it with some lavender to ease and calm that mind of yours"
"Can we um...cuddle?"
"Sure sweetness."
Beidou and Ningguang snuggle together on the couch, Beidou being the makeshift pillow. Ningguang curled up in Beidous arms.
"Can you tell me about these nightmares you have been having?"
"You noticed?" She looked up to meet Beidous red and cloudy silver eyes.
"Of course I noticed"
Ningguang sighed, her voice beginning to tremble " I... I couldn't escape. They took me again. I dream that you didn't kill that man, that you got seriously injured....they feel so real, Beidou. The fear, the helplessness. I can't shake it off." Ningguang buries her head in Beidous chest.
"I'm here, right by your side, I'm not going anywhere. You're safe here with me, Ningguang. " Beidou rubs Ningguangs back in a circular motion.
"I'm scared, Beidou. Scared that he'll come back, scared that he'll hurt you."
Beidou cups Ningguang's face, her eyes filled with unwavering love and determination.
"I'm still here, Ningguang. I'm not going anywhere, I promise. I pinky swear." Beidou holds out her pinky, waving it in front of Ningguangs face.
Ningguang interlocks her pinky with Beidous, she kisses the other end of the fist as Beidou does too. The lavender from the soup kicks in as Ningguang is able to sleep in peace in the comfort of her lover.
"I'm so lucky to have you, Ningguang," Beidou whispers, kissing the top of Ningguangs head. They both drift off into a deep sleep, the comfort of each other's touch warding off any nightmares that follow.
