Beidou quietly entered their home, her left arm cradled in a sling. She hoped to avoid causing any alarm, but the concern etched across Ningguang's face was impossible to miss.

Ningguang's eyes widened as she rushed toward Beidou, her voice filled with worry. "Archons Beidou! What happened? Your arm... Is it broken? Why didn't you go to the doctor like I asked?"

Beidou sighed, her face crinkling with a mix of pain and remorse. "I didn't want to worry you, Ning. It's just a break. Nothing serious."

Ningguang's eyes narrowed, her voice growing sharp. "A break? How could you be so reckless and neglectful of your own well-being? I told you to see a doctor, Do you have any idea how worried I was when you weren't there when I woke up?"

Beidou looked down, her heart sinking under the weight of Ningguang's disappointment. "I know, Ning. I should have told you. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you worry. I just-"

"You just?"

"Ning, gods," she rubbed her eyes  "I'm so sorry. I... I forgot. I've been worried about you, and it completely  slipped my mind."

Ningguang's initial concern shifted, her eyes narrowing with a mix of worry and guilt. "Worried about me? Beidou, I told you to take care of yourself too. I'm going through a difficult time, but that doesn't mean you should ignore your own health."

Tears welled up in Beidou's eyes as she reached out with her good arm, her voice trembling. "Ning, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to neglect myself. I just... I didn't want to burden you. You're going through so much, and I wanted to be strong for you."

Ningguang's anger softened slightly as she saw the remorse in Beidou's eyes. She stepped closer, her hand reaching out to gently cradle Beidou's uninjured arm, her other arm whipping tears from Beidous eyes. "I know you have a tendency to tough things out, Beidou, but that doesn't mean you have to face it alone. We're a team, remember? I care about you, and your well-being matters to me."

Beidou reached up with her good arm and cupped Ningguang's cheek, her thumb gently brushing against the smooth skin. "I'm sorry, Ning. I'll do better."

A flicker of concern still danced in Ningguang's eyes, but it was tempered with understanding. She leaned into Beidou's touch, her hand coming up to cover Beidou's own.

"I suppose we should tell Kaz'?"

"Mhm."

-TIME SKIP-

Ningguang and Beidou sat side by side on the couch, their hearts heavy with the weight of the news they were about to share. Kazuha, sat across from them, his eyes filled with curiosity and concern. They took a deep breath, knowing that honesty and openness were the only ways to navigate this difficult conversation.

"Was there something you guys needed?"

"Kazuha," Ningguang began, her voice gentle yet tinged with sadness, "there's something we need to talk to you about. It's about your mom and me."

Kazuha leaned forward, his brows furrowing. "What is it, Mo- Ahem Lady Ningguang?"

Beidou took a deep breath, her voice steady but filled with emotion. "Ningguang had a miscarriage."

Kazuha's eyes widened, a mix of confusion and concern washing over his face. "A miscarriage? What does that mean?"

Ningguang reached out, her hand seeking Kazuha's. "Sometimes, when a woman is pregnant, the baby doesn't grow the way it's supposed to or something disrupts the development of the fetus. It can be really hard and sad for the mom. We were expecting to have another child, but unfortunately, it didn't work out."

"In our case Kaz, something disrupted the development." Beidou softly looks to Ningguang, asking for permission to tell the story. Ningguang nodded.

"I'm going to go get us some refreshments." Beidou knew that Ningguang didn't like hearing the story, as the memories would flood her already racing mind.

Beidou took Kazuha's hands in hers, offering a reassuring squeeze. "Ningguang was taken by a kidnapper in the middle of the night. They held her against her will and beat her."

Kazuha gasped, his face paling as his grip on Beidou's hands tightened. "No... That's terrible! How... how did this happen?"

Beidou took a moment, her voice filled with sorrow as she continued. "The kidnapper wanted to extract classified information from Ningguang about Liyue and its secrets. They resorted to extreme measures, causing harm and placing immense pressure on her."

Tears welled up in Kazuha's eyes as he whispered, "And the miscarriage... it was because of what they did?"

Beidou nodded, her own eyes glistening with unshed tears. "Yes, Kazuha. The stress and trauma Ningguang endured during her captivity took a toll on her body, leading to the loss of the baby she was carrying."

Kazuha's voice trembled as he spoke, filled with a mix of sadness and anger. "I can't believe someone would do something so horrible... How is Ningguang? Is she okay?"

Beidou's grip on Kazuha's hands tightened, offering him a source of strength and support. "Physically, she is recovering, but emotionally, it will take time. Ningguang is strong, and we're doing everything we can to help her heal."

Ningguang entered the room with 3 iced glasses of water, Beidou's back facing towards herself.

Beidou's eyes welled up with unshed tears as she leaned into Kazuha's touch. "I've been trying to be strong for Ningguang, but it's been difficult to process everything myself. I never imagined we would go through something like this. It was going so well, then all gone in the blink of an eye." The last sentence is but a mere whisper.

A tear trickled down Beidou's cheek as she nodded, her voice filled with a mix of gratitude and vulnerability.

"Ah! I'm sorry, I shouldn't be crying." Beidou said, wiping the stray tear from her face.

"I brought some drinks," Ningguang used Beidous's good shoulder for support, placing the tray on the coffee stand.

"It's getting late, I should probably get going."

Beidou became silent.

"Oh dear me, It is quite late," Ningguang said looking out the window to see the sun barely peeking from the horizon.

After Kazuha left, Beidou was left with her thoughts.

"Come on, let's take your meds and head to bed."

"It doesn't hurt, I just wanna sleep."

"Ok, I'll come to bed in a few."

"Yeah,"

Beidou left to go to bed, feeling more groggy than usual she fell asleep very fast. Ningguang soon joined her.

"Just so you know, I do have to work tomorrow, so I won't be home."

"Sounds good."

"I love you, Good night. Oh and please wake me up if you need your meds," she rubbed Beidou's uninjured shoulder.

"Eye aye captain," Beidou said, mid-yawn.

"I love you too," she grabbed Ningguangs hand as she gave into the drowsiness.
