The Mercury Heights power grid was a large lot with coarse, earthy ground and numerous, towering electrical coils everywhere. Generators and fuse boxes were strewn here and there along the outer edges, and a maintenance building sat on the right.
The area had the questionable honor of acting as the site for the fateful battle between The Viper, Duncan Drevis, and their allies against Duncan's sister Monica, The Viper's former ally Herman, and the Shocker Clones, just over a week prior. Monica was slain in the ensuing chaos, but perhaps Malcorchus's unrivaled power could grant her the chance to fight once more.
"I have a feeling I already know why we're here....." Caspian mused.
"A rather 'electrifying' warrior met her end here," Malcorchus responded. "Her anger.....her hatred.....her drive.....could prove very useful to our crusade. She shall be the first of our many allies."
"Are you sure about this, sire?"
The two of them approached the smoldering spot on the ground where Monica had been killed, the dirt having been visibly blackened and still smoking after all this time.
"Indeed. She is quite powerful.....there is no doubting that. She can fly, disintegrate people on a dime, shut down or hijack entire communication networks.....and with my abilities, I believe I will be able to add yet another capability to her arsenal....."
"Very well. Do what you have to do.....I'll secure the perimeter."
As the First Blade kept a lookout for any intruders, Malcorchus bent down and used a glowing finger to draw a magic rune on the ground on the exact spot where Monica had fell. He drew a circle, then superimposed a star over it, its points perfectly touching the edges of the circle. Finally, in the center, he drew a bright, shining "M".
The sigil immediately shone with light, and both the king and his First Blade backed away cautiously. Beams of energy burst forth from the ground and swirled around the vicinity of the rune as a familiar form took shape; within seconds, Monica's body had been completely reconstituted.
There was no doubt it was her; the red leather jacket, black inner shirt, dark skirt and leggings, and the black belt around her waist---emblazoned with a silver "M"-shaped buckle---were unmistakable. Her skin was somewhat translucent, allowing the intense currents of electricity surging through her body to be visible to the naked eye.
She perked her head up, opened her eyes, and looked around. "What.....where am I.....?" she asked. "And.....who are you people?!"
Not knowing either of the two figures standing before her, she instinctively charged up a lightning blast. Caspian unsheathed his blade and stepped in front of his king to protect him, poised to nullify the attack, but Malcorchus pushed him out of the way and attempted to talk her down instead.
"Now, now, now.....is that any way to treat the people who brought you back to life?" the king asked.
"What? I.....I died....?" Monica muttered softly in disbelief. "Actually.....now that I think about it.....I do remember getting overcharged with the entire city's power supply before....it was very painful. And...." She came to a realization. "Yes! Yes, I did die! But.....I was also with Herman.....where is he?!"
"Calm down, girl.....allow me to explain everything," the king replied. "I'm sure this must all be very confusing for you."
Monica recalled the lightning orb back into her hand and lowered her arm. "Explain yourselves. You've got five minutes."
