At Malcorchus's palace in the Shimmering Plane, he, Nic'qura, Sin'lazo, Shocker, Herman, and Mitchell were all lounging around and waiting for Caspian to obtain information on The Viper's location.

Nic'qura approached her fellow Opulent member. "You know.....back when we were all still together.....you were always the laziest of us. Completely worthless in the laboratory."

Sin'lazo sighed. "I know.....and I'm sorry. I really did care for the advances we made.....I suppose I was more interested in the results rather than the process. If I could turn back time and tell my past self to be more productive, I would do so immediately.....with no hesitation."

"Well.....it means a lot that you do regret it, at least a little. But the past has passed. The Opulent is now disbanded; we're the only surviving members, and it's only because of Malcorchus's intervention. Had it not been for the king realizing the error of his ways....." The chief scientist gulped. "I have no idea where we would be right now."

"Right. All that matters is taking down The Viper. The attractive, beautiful, breathtaking, voluptuous Viper....."

Nic'qura let out an amused chuckle. "Normally, I would be annoyed at your constant sick fantasies about the girl. But now.....we have nothing left. No lab.....no Opulent.....no motivation to get home....."

"Yeah. We're already here, anyway."

"All that remains is revenge. Mal'tin and Gor'bari perishing in front of my eyes.....my own son, Derek, turning against me.....I doubt I'll ever be able to get those images out of my head," Nic'qura lamented. "If your perverse lust ends up serving as an effective tool to make The Viper suffer.....then so be it. She did not give Mal'tin or Gor'bari peaceful deaths.....so why should we give one to her?"

"Yes....." Sin'lazo agreed, chuckling darkly.

"In fact.....I think I might still have some of my old equipment lying around. If you were to successfully.....'procreate'.....with her....." Nic'qura cringed inwardly at the thought, but quickly brushed it off; the whole point of science was progress, anyway. ".....Then I would love it if you gave me the opportunity to study the genetic makeup of the offspring. Like His Majesty said earlier, there's currently no evidence on what exactly the children of a pure-blooded Opulent crossed with a hybrid Opulent would be like. Knowing that information could be extremely helpful."

"Of course. As long as I get my fair share of that alluring woman, you can do whatever you want afterwards. .....And here I thought my twisted desires were letting you down."

"They were. They were. But nowadays, times are different. Besides, with Mal'tin and Gor'bari gone, we can no longer conduct projects that are as large-scale as we once did." Just then, Nic'qura thought of something to ask Malcorchus. "I'm going to go have a chat with the king. Why don't you go and acquaint yourself with some of our other.....new friends.....?"

Sin'lazo nodded and left, while Nic'qura made her way towards Malcorchus and Caspian.

Once she approached the king, she took a knee before him.

"Your Majesty....." she began. "A question, if you don't mind."

The King of the Shimmering Plane addressed his longtime companion with a warm smile. "Of course. Speak, Nic'qura."

"I understand why you initially decided against reviving Mal'tin and Gor'bari.....but I implore you to reconsider. Gor'bari is incredibly strong; I distinctly remember him once picking up an entire car and swinging it into the city limits of Honolulu. And Mal'tin is honestly one of the smartest assistants I've ever had; in fact, if it weren't for him.....I likely would've never known for sure whether The Viper was a part-Opulent hybrid or not. Please.....if you were to revive them, I promise you that they will serve you well.....just as much as I do." She paused for a moment, then began speaking from the heart. "And plus.....I just miss them. I really do. During the Opulent's time as a team, I began to see all of them as a second family. It's a big reason why Sal'terra's betrayal hurt me so much. Having only Sin'lazo here feels like a job only partway done."
