A Second Chance (Steddie)

Chapter 22

After an hour or so, Eddie and I were ready to leave the diner.

As I finished off my last bite of food, I notice that Eddie has barely eaten anything off of his plate.

The grilled cheese that he ordered was still fairly put together - it honestly looked as if he didn't even touch it.

"Eds, you barely touched your food" I say.

"O-oh! I guess I wasn't as hungry as I thought I was! I think I'm still full from breakfast heh" he stammers.

But you barely ate anything then too...

"Do you want to get a to-go box and you can at it later?"

"Um...no I don't think so"

He can't actually be full...

Right?...

"Okay - If you say so, Munson"

"Do you want to go check on the little sh*ts?" he snickers.

I can't help but laugh.

"Yeah, let's go"

We walk over to the other side of the diner, as we walk I shot glares at any people that looked over in our direction.

Specifically at Eddie...

As we reach Will and Mike's table, we could tell from afar that they were back on good terms.

I feel a smile spread across my face.

"Steve, Eddie!" Will chimes, a big smile on his face.

"Well, I take it that the two of you made up?" Eddie asks, a big smile on his face as well.

"Yep! We're all good now!"

"That's good, I'm glad" I say.

Mike pulls his gaze away from Will to look up at me. I raise my eyebrow in confusion before he stands up.

"I owe you an apology...Steve"

My eyes widen.

"The...the things I said about you and Eddie were un-called for. I didn't mean for my words to come out as hurtful and disgusting as they did...a-and I didn't even realize that I was saying such terrible things until after the fact..."

Mike's gaze falls to the ground.

"I...I think that is it great that you and Eddie are friends!"

I think my eyes filled with more shock as I stare at him, Mike now looking me in the eyes again.

"Don't let our messed up town and their society or their stupid f*cking social normalcy come between the two of you!...and..."

Mike takes a deep breathe.

"I'm really sorry Steve"

I stare down at Mike.

Out of the corner of my eye, I can see Eddie and Will anxiously waiting for me to respond.

I focus back onto Mike, and he gulps, nervously.

*Sighs
