"What would you like to eat?"

A question no one had asked Sanaya in years. She didn't know what could have he meant by this. Does he want her to pick food and later on make fun of her saying how fat she is, or if he just wanted to tease her and will laugh at her.

"Bhabhi? Pick something I'm too hungry!" Avantika groaned giving Sanaya the menu card.

"Ah, yes. One minute." Sanaya said in a very low whisper.

"Don't worry about the money, you know you've got the richest husband." Daksh showed off a little caressing his hair dramatically.

Sanaya scoffed at his childish nature, and asked Daksh to order some tasty south Indian food for her. Given her introverted and extremely conscious self, she couldn't ever order something for herself. Thankfully for her, Daksh didn't notice (or purposefully ignored) her awkward body gestures.

One thing about her which even she didn't know herself was her fidgeting habit. Whenever she was anxious, or overwhelmed about something, her fingers couldn't stay at one place, she had to do something with her hands.

"The food is lit here, I had come with my friends." Avni broke the silence excited about the place with blue lighting and decorations.

"Really? When did you come?" Daksh asked. Avni thought for a second, "About a month ago?"

"Were there boys?" Daksh asked immediately drinking his water, eyes narrowing at his sister. Sanaya smiled to herself while Avni rolled her eyes, "Yeah 7, I was the only girl there." she informed sarcastically.

Daksh choked making everyone look at their direction. "Come on don't be silly." Sanaya chuckled a little losing her stiff attire, finally, trying to get comfortabl around her new family.

She felt warm, a hope could finally be seen. This family has manage to convince her as something she could put effort into and it won't disappoint her. Taking a deep breath in, Sanaya glanced over the sister-brother duo, smiling a little to herself. She knew in that moment, it is worth trying, for them.

"Uh, are you..?"

Sanaya heard an old lady in saree standing a little away from their table.

The old lady was none other than their high school teacher, Mrs. Geeta Kapoor.

The new couple's eyes widen at her sight, they immediately stood up from their seats recognising the only worth remembering teacher from their school.

"Ma'am," Daksh wiped his mouth with a tissue greeting his teacher by touching her feet.

Mrs. Kapoor grinned of happiness seeing her old students again after all these years. She was the most kind hearted woman Sanaya had ever met in her life, even though she used to favour her sister over her a little (because Sanaya was introverted) she still motivated her to be a better person, with values and manners.

"Namaste, ma'am" Sanaya greeted her, smiling.

"Sit, sit, namaste beta!" Mrs. Kapoor put her hands over their heads as her blessings. "How have you been?" She asked excitedly.

"We've been great, ma'am, how have you been?" Daksh asked her.

"I'm good. Though I took retirement and now won't be teaching my children anymore." She laughed.

Sanaya's eyes widen, "You retired?" She said immediately regretting her tone of voice in front of her elder.

"Oh, I'm sorry." She apologized, "I wish you happy retirement ma'am, we wish you stay healthy. Your children will never forget you." She smiled bowing a little.

"Oh it would be awesome if they remember an old woman like me." She laughed again, "Time passes by a little too fast. How come you two are here together?" She asked looking in between the couple.

Awkwardness filled the room as Snayaa and Daksh stared at each other, knowing how awfully embarrassing it would be if she knew they're married.

"They're husband and wife. We're here for dinner." Avni spoke up taking everyone's attention. "I'm his sister, hello ma'am." Avni greeted their teacher who was a little shocked at the news.

Daksh chuckled in embarrassment, "Well, things turned out that way." his laugh was dry.

Mrs. Kapoor looked astonished, "Really? Two of my students are married?" she smiled brightly, "Congratulations! How long have you been married?" She asked.

"Um, for a month." Sanaya said unsure, looking at Daksh to confirm.

"Aw, you look cute together. Stay well, I'll get going dear." She touched Sanaya's cheek caressing a thumb over her skin, like a mother. "I'm cheering for you beta." she whispered.

Sanaya nodded almost on the verge of crying.

They greeted their teacher as she walked upstairs to have her dinner at the restaurant.

Sanaya took a relaxing breath as she sat. Daksh chuckled, "Were you nervous?" he asked.

Sanaya eyed him leaning on the table, "Of course I was, it was embarrassing!" She said gritting her teeth.

Avantika chuckled, "Well at least you got her blessings. She seemed like a nice lady."

"She is." Daksh synced with Sanaya.

Avni smirked, "I see her blessings are already doing their work."

"Shh" Daksh shushed his sister before she could make Sanaya irritated.

Even is he didn't understand her sufferings, he understood a little about how to care for her. He was waiting for her to open up on him, not because she was his wife, but because she stayed with his family when she could leave.

It's true, life is all about our decisions. It might go left even from a single bad decision, but learning from our doings and taking better measurements for a better life, is what living is all about.

The dinner was done and it was time to leave. Avantika had gone to washroom leaving the couple to be.

"Ah, I forgot to tell you." Daksh said to break the silence, "Tomorrow we're going to hospital."

Sanaya's breath stuck in her throat, "For what?" she asked trying to avoid the sensitive topic.

"To check your body. If your surgery is good or not. Dr. Khuranna will test you tomorrow, don't worry we're only visiting him." He told her easing his wife's tension.

"Okay." She nodded, "And thank you."

"Don't thank me please. It is nothing compared to what you had done for me." He said, Sanaya was confused as to what he was refering to but she didn't ask.

Because another big question was making her uncomfortable.

"Can I ask you something?" She asked.

Daksh nodded, leaning forward offering her comfort with his actions. He knew nothing about how to make her feel safe with him but he was trying. He hadn't fixed an appointment with the psychiatrists he talked with, but he kept them on stand by.

He was willing to give her what she never had. Although he wasn't sure, why? Why is he willing to provide for her? His brain was offering him the same answer for every question, "Because she didn't leave." But he knew better, that this is more complicated than what it looks like.

Is it pity? He saw her in her most fragile state, the first time he met her in years. Pity could be the answer, but it didn't satisfy the question, "Why is he still willing to go over the boundaries for her, she isn't even sick now."

Perhaps mentally she is, however pitying someone over their mental state is by far the last thing to waste his time on.

Then what is this? That he's feeling?

"Did you... Did you pay for my treatment for me, or because you met my sister that day?"
