"Come sit here beta," one of the older woman with thick white hair called Sanaya to sit with her. She looked really old but had a stern face and a kind smile spread on her lips.
"Sanaya, this is Daksh's grandmother," Sarika explained to her Sanaya touched her feet for blessings, "Namaste dadi maa (grandma)." Sanaya noticed her wearing only simple makeup and bindi, she must be widowed, Sanaya took note to ask about that later.
"Ah, perfect manners. Tell me where did you find such a beautiful angel for my Dakshu?" Grandma asked Sarika, smiling and laughing with many woman sitting beside and behind her while Sanaya snickered at the pet name.
"These are my sisters, and their daughter-in-laws," grandma introduced, Sanaya greeted hello to all of them.
"Did you say 'Sanaya'? But the card reads Shweta?" one of the grandma's sister asked, which made Sanaya and Sarika visibly uncomfortable.
"No, no, her name is Sanaya," Sarika explained with and awkward laugh brushing her suspiscion off.
"Really? Might have been my mistake, my eyes are getting old," She said laughing while others joined.
"Your eyes are fine dadi, it's the card maker's mistake," Daksh came out of nowhere and hugged her, "That stupid by mistake typed wrong, and we were really busy with the wedding to correct hundreds of cards." He explained, glancing at Sanaya as she uncomfortably took her eyes off of him.
"And my daughter's telling you her name in front of her naa, how can you question that!" Grandma scolded her sister, and patted Sanaya's head.
"How pretty you are," she smiled as Sanaya looked down staring at her hands.
The ladies and men offered many gifts to her and their blessings. Hours went by and Sanaya felt dizzy because of lack of sleep.
It was almost 12 in the noon and preparations of the 'Ring Finding' ceremony were done.
It is a post wedding ritual where a bowl is filled with milk, water, vermilion, flower petals and other objects were put in front of the bride and the groom. It is a fun ritual where a ring is placed in the bowl and in four rounds, bride and groom have to find the ring.
Sanaya and Daksh sat opposite to each other and every one of his family members surrounded them. Daksh stare was fixed on his wife, he knew Sanaya didn't want to marry him nor did he want to marry her, but he must not take away her happiness. Marriage is once in a lifetime thing and for everyone it is memorable, whether it's forced or by choice. Daksh had no right to make Sanaya sad in her wedding. When Sanaya finally maintained the eye contact with him, he tried to assure her asking her to enjoy this moment. Sanaya seemed to understand his expressions, gave a slight nod.
"Wow bhaiya, already you're talking to bhabhi with eyes," Avantika teased as she place the owl in between them, "Shut up, Avni" he growled.
"Shut up, Avni," Avni mocked him and everybody laughed.
