chapter fifty three: graphium agamemnon eruca
That afternoon, you go back with the others to collect Hinata's belongings and help move everybody back into the camp. When you step onto your bus, it feels so good to be back. Finally, you feel safe around your own belongings once again. You never thought it'd be the guy who you spent most of your time with to be the reason you felt so unsafe.
At the end of the day, your group gathers around to have yet another celebratory drink. Osamu starts a fire in your old fire pit and the rest of you talk and laugh like old friends. Even Suna talks to you like he had before the outage- before you royally fucked up your relationship with him.
"So, Y/N, if you don't mind me asking, how do you know Suna? I mean, you both must be close since he came around looking for you. And where did you come from anyway, Suna?" Hinata asks once the drinks start to hit his brain and affect his tongue.
"I came from Monimiaceae. I was with a friend for awhile until he left. When I was alone I realized I needed to look for Y/N and make sure she was okay. I went to her office but the place was locked up tight. But since I know she wouldn't leave that place for anything, I knew she had to be close by," Suna explains in greater detail than you ever thought you'd get from him.
"And how'd you say you knew each other again?" Kageyama asks innocently.
"We were close friends before-" he begins before you interrupt him.
"Rin and I used to go out, but we broke up before the outage," you explain as your face heats up. You don't even want to see the look on Oikawa's face, too afraid he'll be pissed off after hearing it again.
"No way!" Hinata gasps. "Holy shit, I had no idea. Wait, but then-"
"Hinata, want another drink?" Oikawa interrupts. "Let's go get something," he offers. Luckily, the two of them walk back to the bus and leave the rest of you alone. However, you realize it's time for you to head back. You don't really feel like sticking around much longer.
After excusing yourself from the group, you walk back to your little hut where you, unfortunately, slept with a serial killer. You open the door and sigh when you see the two cots pushed together as if Oikawa was expecting you to come back to him, even at the end.
You walk inside and sit down on your side of the cot. Then, as thoughts of him and the rest of your original group flood to your mind, tears stream down your face in tandem.
Suddenly, in the middle of your cry session, there's a knock on your door. You internally groan as you wipe your tears and call out, "come in" because you aren't quite sure how to say no.
Suna steps in slowly when he sees you sitting on the bed. "Hey, how's it going?" he asks. "Are you okay? Figured you might be bummed since you didn't get to take that kill shot you wanted so badly."
"I'm alright," you shake your head as you attempt to hide your wet face.
"You know, I wasn't born yesterday, and I've known you for way longer than anyone else here, Y/N. You can't fool me that easily," he sighs. "How come you changed your mind?"
"'Cause you're the worst, that's why," you grumble, causing him to smile as he steps closer to you and sits down beside you on the cot.
"Man, I'm the worst?" he scoffs. "Really?"
"Not like that," you quickly respond, unpurposefully looking at him and showing your red eyes and wet face.
"Jesus," he shakes his head as he puts his arm around your shoulders and pulls you close to him. You shut your eyes as you rest your head against his. "What's going on with you, Y/N?"
"It's so fucked, Rin. Everything. I'm falling apart. I can't do this for much longer. I'm being driven insane," you admit to him. "And you were so right about what you said. I didn't really want to kill him. I was just so pissed off because of what he did. But in the end, I was too fucking weak to do it."
"Really, is that what you think? 'Cause that's certainly not what I saw," he tells you. Curious, you lift up your face and look at him. "You're so strong, Y/N. You didn't let this world fuck with you. You kept with your beliefs and didn't let him mess with that. You did the right thing. I'm so proud of you, Y/N."
"Why are you always so nice to me," you smile as you look away from him ashamed after everything the two of you went through together. "I hardly deserve it."
"Now I don't think that's true. You always have to put the blame on yourself, don't you," he shakes his head as he reaches his hand to your chin and gently turns your face toward him once more.
Just then, you can hear the radio turn on from where the others are still partying. You can hear a song from fifty plus years ago begin to play vaguely.

"Rin, it's not that I don't care about you," you respond hoarsely as tears begin to prick at your eyes again. "I just, well I don't really know how to say it."
"You don't need to," he shakes his head, eyes glancing down at your lips hesitantly.

Suna smiles softly as his hand travels upward to cup your face gently.
"Rin?" you hesitantly call out to him.
"Mhm?" he mumbles back.
Without responding, you lean in closer to him, giving him plenty of time to back away if that's what he chooses. However, when he doesn't, you gently graze your lips against his. But the soft kiss doesn't last, especially once Suna realizes your kiss is for real. It quickly turns hungry as Suna pulls you in closer to him and kisses you as though he thought he never would again.

When you pull apart, Suna is the first one to speak. "Shit, you don't know how long I've been waiting to do that again."
Instead of giving a verbal response, you smile and laugh softly. But Suna, however, remains serious. He keeps a steady, intent look on you until you realize he's still waiting.
