🇭🇷 Emery's POV (The next day in Croatia, The cottage)

Emery: And... - I kicked his knee and he fell down on the grass - Done - I smirked and rubbed my hands proudly when I stop pressing him.

Ezra: You know what? - He coughed all the time laying down - Laying with my fucking face on that grass is much better than any more minute spent with you.

Emery: Too bad, because after my just an amazing and successful training we will start our little extra lessons for the Contest - I approached my bag and picked it up from the ground - The sooner you get up, the sooner we can start. You know I don't like to wait - I smirked.

Ezra: I don't get it, Gomez also took part in it - He hardly got up, straightened his t-shirt and slightly coughed with a pain again - Can't you bother her?

Emery: I could, but her score was the second one - I put the bag on my shoulder and looked at him - You had the highest score and you won.

Ezra: And? - He put his hands on his hips and sighed annoyed.

Emery: And I always learn from the best - I shrugged - I found you as a better trainer, than Eric for example, that's why I chose you to train me. You had a higher score in that Contest, that's why I chose you again. It's not my fault you're simply better than them - I shrugged again and nodded at the cottage.

Ezra: Yeah, and because of that I have to spend more time with you since I had a peace of mind, at least, after our trainings.

Emery: You will help me, I will gain some nice score and will get additional points? You will get rid of me once and for all because I'll pack my ass straight to Boston - I sighed and approached him - We talked about it yesterday.

Ezra: Why do you try so fucking hard to get accepted to Harvard? - He crossed his arms and looked at me confused.

Emery: It's just... - I sighed and looked away - My mother recruited for Medicine both at Harvard and Stanford. She wasn't accepted into Harvard, but she got accepted to Stanford without any problem - I shrugged and looked at him again - Like I told you some time ago, at the end she didn't go anywhere, because of her pregnancy. I mean, she went to some basic, nursing school - I sighed - She was always ready to sacrifice herself and her own happiness for her kids - I hardly smiled - I want to make it up to her. I want to thank her for everything she has done for us by getting accepted to her dream University.

Ezra: Are these your dreams or hers? - He asked after a longer break.

Emery: Mine too - I nodded after a longer break.

Ezra: Is this something you have always wanted?

Emery: Yeah - I nodded again - The perspective of being a doctor has always been behind my head. From an early age, I wanted to help other people, I even helped homeless people in Japan from time to time - I smiled - Why?

Ezra: No reason, it's just... - He answered quickly and looked away - I don't see it quite encouraging to waste my time studying with you since that's not what you really want and it's just your sense of duty to your mother - He looked at me again and shrugged - If your mother were alive and everything was fine, that is, if she managed to juggle parenthood and her medical studies, would you have the same goals?

I opened my mouth to answer him, but I stopped and became confused. Okay, I have to admit that he surprised me with that question. Well, there's always been... Her. Everything I did, I did thinking about her and her sacrifice for me. All my life I tried to prove to everyone, especially to myself, that her sacrifice for me was not in vain. That's why I was working and studying hard, that's why my goal is to got accepted but... I have never thought about it like that. I... I have never asked myself that question.
