🇺🇸 Elena's POV (The next day in the USA, Elena's house in Duskwood)

I felt as though the rays of light were beginning to hurt my closed eyes, causing me to squint a little. However, the pain I experienced wasn't as intense as what I went through yesterday. I mean, I do feel discomfort, like I'm not entirely relaxed, but it's not comparable to the feeling of near-death that I had when I reached my house yesterday...

As I slightly groaned and turned my head to the side, I finally opened my eyes and realized I was lying on my bed in my bedroom. On the nightstands and tables, I noticed some medical items like badges, syringes, and medications, so I suppose Emery was taking care of my wound while I slept...

When I looked down, I noticed a badge covering half of my calf and some smaller ones on my arms, probably from branches and bushes...

As I observed my ankle, I saw it was wrapped in a different kind of bandage, not the usual white one, but more like an elastic bandage. Yup, so I really must have sprained my ankle, and it seems like I'll need some time to recover from it with this thing on my leg...

I propped myself up on my elbows, attempting to get up, but truth be told, I feel like I've just woken up after being hit by a car. Technically, nothing is hurting me that much, so I assume I'm just filled with a lot of morphine, but I can sense the weight of pain around my body, which the drugs are masking...

Somehow, I managed to sit up on the bed. When I put my feet on the floor, I took a deep breath to prepare myself to stand up. Slowly and carefully, I started to rise from the bed, feeling a stabbing pain in my ankle that made me hiss a little, but it was bearable...

Well, since I'm experiencing pain even with the effects of the drugs, I'm scared to think how awful I'd feel without any anesthesia...

Standing still, I put my hand on the wall to maintain my balance because I felt so dizzy for a moment that I thought I might pass out again. At one point, I even felt like I was about to throw up, but after taking a few deep breaths, that feeling faded away, and I managed to make my way to the door...

I opened the door slowly and carefully, but there was no one in the corridor when I looked out from my bedroom. However, when I focused my hearing, I could hear some conversations in the distance, though I couldn't pinpoint their location. I took a few slow steps through the corridor and checked Emery's room and Lucy's room, but they were both empty...

As I walked through the ground floor, the voices became clearer, and I concluded that the source of the conversation was in the kitchen...

It took me a while to finally reach the kitchen door, and as I recognized the angry voice from inside, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath, knowing exactly what was about to happen...
