It had been nearly a year. Winter still lingered in the air as you wandered home from work to the apartment you shared with your uncle. You unlocked the door and kicked off your shoes at the door. The smell of cooking food hit you like a truck. It was unusual for Oboro to be back so early in the day even weirder for him to have on what sounded like...
"Uncle, are you trying to watch Toilet Bound Hanako-Kun without me?"
There was no answer. Suddenly, a thought crossed your mind and you picked up your shoe and crept into the kitchen.
"Sup." Dabi waved the wooden spoon he was cooking fried rice with.
The shoe flew out of your hand and hit him in the face.
"Ouch... I made you dinner and this is the thanks I get?"
You both stood staring at each other in silence. Finally you took a deep breath.
"WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE! How do you know where I LIVE! AND WHY DOES THAT SMELL SO DAMN GOOD!"
Dabi blinked slowly and then held out a bowl of food to you.
____
"Sorry about your face, and I did miss you." You said, mouth full of delicious pork and fried rice.
Dabi let a mischievous grin creep to his cheeks. "Yeah, It didn't hurt that bad. Didn't hurt as much as our years apart! I thought my soul would crush under the weight of your absence dear y/n!"
He looped his arms around you and pulled you close to him on the couch.
"Ah gross!" You shoved at him but he tightened the hug. "Dabi!"
As you tried to wriggle away, he sighed and kept you pinned to him and rested his chin on your shoulder. With a huff of annoyance you gave up and gave him two pats on the back.
"I've known you the longest and I don't get to see you anymore..." he mumbled.
"Wait what?"
"Nothing..." he let go and leaned back in his seat, pulling out a cigarette and lighting it with his blue fire.
Immediately you plucked it from between his lips and tossed it in the sink. "Stop that, you're gonna end up killing yourself with that crap. Besides I don't want Uncle coming home and smelling it, he'd know something was up."
Dabi smiled painfully. "Uncle Kurogiri? How's he doing?"
"It's Uncle Oboro, and he's doing very well!" You snapped.
"Well that's good I guess..."
An uncomfortable chill settled between you and you returned to eating your dinner. Your eyes flicked to his hands, then his face and winced. There was a difference there you hadn't noticed before.
"Your scars are getting worse aren't they."
"We're they ever good?"
"Dabi..."
He mumbled something and folded his arms.
"What's that?"
"I said don't call me that anymore, it's getting annoying."
"What am I supposed to call you then?"
"My name, Touya." He looked away from you. "I want you to call me my real name. Just don't tell other people."
"Nice to finally meet you again, Touya Todoroki."
He whipped around to see you smiling softly at him. The sight made his heart skip a beat.
"So you remember me? You know, from before?" He asked tensely.
After downing a large spoonful of rice you hummed loudly.
You looked around at him, fried rice falling from your chin. "Well I didn't but Uncle remembers when I met you. He kinda jogged my memory."He chuckled and wiped the mess from your chin with his thumb. "Makes sense, you were really little at the time."
"It was actually easier figuring out you were one of the Todorokis."
"Wait what? How?" He narrowed his eyes at you.
"Yeah I figured that out a long time ago, dumbass. After all you got your father eyes."
"Huh?"
"You think you're so mysterious?" You teased.
"Yeah, I'd like to think I am!"
"Well too bad, Touya Todoroki, I got you all figured out?"
"Do ya now?" He smirked. "You sure? Cause I think there is still something you're missing."
For some reason you blushed and looked away. His gaze was fixed on you in an unusual manor. "Yeah, I think I got you pegged. All the Todoroki's have issues man, it wasn't hard to put the pieces together."
Touya snorted and shuffled on the couch, almost unconsciously moving closer to you.
"Really though, I know Natsuo misses you a lot. I wish he knew the truth."
He was silent at that. You leaned back too and let your head fall against his shoulder. It was a simple gesture but still it made him stiffen, as if the slightest movement would push you away.
"Did you miss me at all?" he asked softly.
"I told you, I did." You said, confused.
"But did you really? Cause I missed you, y/n, I thought I was going crazy."
"Touya..." The new name still felt unusual in your mouth, yet it felt more intimate than his other name.
"For some reason I thought that someday you'd finally get it. I don't want to be your friend, y/n. It hurt like hell seeing you with all those other guys. I became kinda an asshole because of it and I'm sorry about that but really... I just wanted you to look at me like that. I kept thinking to myself, ''When is it gonna be my turn."
A hand moved to your waist and sliding slightly under your shirt. He pulled you closer so you leaned softly against him. His intoxicating warmth lulling you into a daze and it felt like the most natural thing ever when his lips fell against yours. You stayed there for a moment, suspended in time, before you heard keys jingling at the door.
You launched yourself off the couch and dragged Touya by the shirt into your bedroom.
"Well, well, I thought I was the eager one." He teased.
Practically shoving him out the open window and onto the fire escape you whispered loudly. "Shut up and get out of here!"
Touya hopped out of the window and turned to face you, a wild grin on his face. Before you could do anything he poked his head back into your room.
"Go on, I don't want you to get caught!" you shoved him lightly.
"Hey, y/n." He said in a low voice.
"What now!"
He kissed you short but firm on your parted lips. "It's my turn now."
He pulled up his hood and slid down the fire escape before you could say anything.
____
You returned to the kitchen in a complete daze to find your uncle standing in the center of the room, hands on his hips, sniffing the air. It seemed his blue hair was standing on end more than usual. Oboro took a last long sniff, looking around the room and then exhaled.
"Dabi was here." Oboro stated. "I can smell that little bastard anywhere... Ooh fried rice!"
