Two days.

That's how long the war has been going on. And that's also how long Hunter has been gone. For over two days, I've sat in my room and all I did was sit on my bed facing the window. So many things raced through my mind. Is the war almost over? Is Fynn ok? Is Hunter already dead? Will I ever see them again? I just sat there and thought about them, when I hear a knock on my door.

"Come in" I say. It's Cole. Obviously. He's been checking on me more than my own mother.
"Hey, what's up? How are you?" He asks in an awkward voice. He's still not the reassuring type of person.
"I'm fine" I reply blankly. He places a plate of food on my dresser and sits on my bed.
"You need to get out of the house. How about we go to the café and then we can do some shopping?" He says with a grin.

"Cole, you know that I'm not that kind of girl" I say "but I guess the café would be nice"
"Good... Lets go downstairs" he says. He walk intro to of me and opens the door to my room. I walk out and head down the stairs.

"Where's my mom?" I asked
"She got a job offer in town, so she's just going to be a few hours" he replies. As soon as I open the front door, I feel like today is going to be amazing. I haven't set foot out of the house in two days. The cool autumn breeze on my skin and the sent of fresh country air fill my lungs. I step outside and walk to the car.
"You look so happy all of a sudden" he says
"I just forgot how beautiful this town really is. It's almost made me forget-" I start. I just reminded myself about the war, about Hunter and Cole. About death. I go back into my 'I don't give a crap right now I don't feel like talking' mood. I see a frown go on Coles face.
"Well, it was good while it lasted" he says as he pull out of the driveway.

When we arrive to the café, we sit at the table the farthest from the door. I hate sitting near the door. Whenever someone comes in, you can hear the little bells over and over again.
"What would you like?" He asks
"I'll just have a coffee" I reply
"Really? We came all the way here for something special and all you want is a coffee?" He says in a playful tone
"Yup. Just a coffee" I say
"Alright, I'll be right back" he says and walks to the front table to order. I stare out the window and watch what's going on outside. Nothing really. A few people walking, some cars driving by. Wow. I just realized how small this town really is.

"Here you go. One coffee for you, and one caramel frappe for me" he says. I barely hear him. "Hey, are you ok?"
"What?" I say sort on startled
"I said are you ok? I talked to you but you didn't reply.
"Oh sorry. I was just lost in thought" I say. And it was true, I was lost in thought, bit this time, it wasn't about the war, it was about who I would choose to be my mate, Hunter, the cheery playful guy with great hair, or Cole, the dark and sort of mysterious guy who under all that skin has a huge heart?
