My baby was back in the ICU. I can't say the nurses where very happy to see us. London had grow very fond of nurse Penelope and Penelope had grown very fond of her.
Penelope was taking care of another baby but stopped by whenever she could. London laid in the small crib, motionless as she slept.
"Hey Z." Nash whispered as he came in. I looked up from the crib as he handed me my salad from the hospital cafeteria. I thanked him and started to nibble on it.
Within a week my greatest fear was put to rest. She would make it and could leave at the end of next week. I kissed her little forehead and she gave me one of her toothless baby grins.
A week and a half after I had gone upstairs to sleep and left London with Cam, we got to go home again. "Here Cam, will you hold her while I get a bottle made?" I asked him. "Umm no thanks." He said, looking scared.
"Just take her." I said and pushed her at him. "I can't!" He said. He ran out of the room and up the stairs. I gave Nash a confused look and he shrugged.
I sat down my purse and followed Camy up the stairs. I knocked on his door and looked in the room. "What's the matter?" I asked when I saw him sitting in his bed. He looked truly miserable.
"The last time I was left alone with the baby she ended up with a hole in her heart." he said. Suddenly I realized why he wouldn't hold her. "Oh Camy that's not your fault! No one could have helped that you didn't do anything wrong." I told him and came over to sit down on the bed next to him.
"I've got this really bad feeling in my stomach that it is my fault though." He said. "Here. lets get it straight from the source." I said. Before he could protest I had shoved London in his arms.
He starred down at her in horror. "See? She's fine. Isn't that right?" I said and started tickling her. She giggled and Cam smiled. "Now, will you hold her while I make her a bottle?" I asked. "Yeah." he said giggling as London poked his cheek with a tiny hand.
He followed me down the stairs as I walked into the kitchen to get her a bottle. "You all good now?" Nash asked Cam. "Yeah I'm fine." He said. "Let's take her to the park!" I said excitedly as I took her from Camy to feed.
"She is almost nine months old." Nash said. "We can work in her walking skills since we haven't had much time for that." I said. "We should also start to ween her off the bottle." Nash said as London drained the bottle.
The park was unimaginably close so we walked. London's head kept wiping back and forth as she struggled to look at everything. Every couple of minutes I heard another camera click as we walked down the semi busy street.
London kept pulling on the breathing tube attached to attached to the small pump I held in my other hand. "Don't pull on that baby you need that." I said. After the surgery she had been aloud to go home sooner but she needed a breathing pump because her little lungs had been a bit damaged during the surgery.
She tugged the tube a bit more and I gave her a stern look that quickly turned into a smile when she giggled.
