"They have to be purple." I said looking at the designs for the bridesmaids dresses. "They don't have to be." Nash said. "Yes they do. They must be purple and that dress is purple. Look how perfect it is." I said.
He laughed and nodded. "Fine. Go with that one." He said. I squealed as the lady took the design back. "How many bridesmaids do you have anyway?" He asked.
"Well Mahogany is the maid of honor which Jezzabelle is not happy about. The other bridesmaids are Jezzabelle, Sally, my cousin Anna, and Findley." I said. "Who's Findley?" He asked. "A girl from my school. We're pretty close but I haven't exactly been able to do much but text her since three years ago." I said
He nodded thoughtfully. "So who's the best man?" I asked. "I can't decide between Will, Hayes, and Cameron. The other groomsmen are Johnson, Gilinsky, and Shawn." He said.
"And how did you pick those just draw names out of a hat?" I asked jokingly. "Actually yes that's exactly what we had to do because they all wanted to be one." He said. I laughed and nodded. "Makes sense." I said.
Where are we going after this?" He asked looking down at his phone. "The cake place." I said. He nodded as they brought out the other dresses. We paid and went out to the car.
Nash stacked the dresses in the back seat and got in the drivers seat. "How do we get there again?" He asked. "Already put it in the GPS little buddy." I said.
~three weeks later~
"This is super small are you sure it's gonna fit?" Mahogany asked. "I'm a very small girl incase you haven't noticed." I said. I slid into the dress and she zipped up the back, with only a little difficulty.
Mahogany slowly put my hair in a wispy bun with two little braids, making sure to not mess anything up and starting over several times. But I didn't complain. She wanted everything to be as perfect as I did. Over the past three and a half years we had become best friends.
She was already in her purple dress and was almost bouncing off the walls. Her cat ears matched the dress and she helped Skylynn into her dress. Skylynn was going to be our little flower girl and Matt was the ring bearer.
Hayes and Will had gotten into a fight over being best man so Cameron won. "Put this on your leg." Elizabeth said and handed me a floral lace garter. I slipped it on and pulled my dress over it.
"That's something new, here's something old." Elizabeth said. She handed me a white bracelet. "It was your mothers." She said. I put it on my wrist and admired the flower that wrapped around it.
"Something borrowed." Mahogany said. She slipped a pair of white cat ears over the headband that held my veil in place. I laughed and hugged her. "Thanks Mahogany." I said and she smiled.
"And something blue." Skylynn said and handed me my shoes. On the bottom was 'I DO' in blue stickers. Everyone had signed and wrote notes around it. I smiled and slipped them on. Now I had something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue.
The wedding venue was a cute little spot on the beach which I absolutely adored.
What felt like centuries later Hayes was on one side of me and Will on the other, leading me down the aisle. I had no father, no mother, and they where my only brothers.
I looked around at everyone. In front of me where Skylynn and Matt holding hands as Skylynn used her other hand to throw little purple rose pedals on the ground.
In the crowd was Elizabeth, my friends from school, my grandparents, Nash's grandparents, Nash's dad, some of Nash's friends from school. I saw a bunch of relatives that I faintly remembered cooing over how small I was when I was ten.
Standing up at the front was Mahogany, jezzabelle, Sally, Anna, and Findley. They where all smiling at me. Then I saw the preacher who I remembered listening to preach so many times when I was little.
Then I saw Camy, Johnson, Gilinsky, and Shawn. They too, stood smiling at me. Last I looked right in front of me. Nash was beaming from ear to ear, tears in his eyes as he watched me and his brothers walk down the aisle.
When we got there Hayes and Will both kissed me on the cheek before going to stand by Shawn. Matt stood a little off to the side, holding the rings. Skylynn had walked over and squeezed between Mahogany and Sally and was holding both their hands.
Nash grabbed my hands and we looked deep into each other's eyes. It was a complete blur. I couldn't remember anything I said or did until the 'I do's'.
"I do!" I said and giggled nervously. Then the preacher asked Nash. "I do!" He said. I remember vividly from that day, sliding the rings on each other's finger, saying 'I do' then the preacher telling Nash "Your may now kiss the bride."
I felt Nash's warm lips on mine and sense of overwhelming joy came over me. We walked back through the sand as everyone cheered.
~later at the party~
The first dance had been amazing and I had managed to not trip or step on Nash's feet.
Then we cut the cake and danced and played games. Then they got everyone's attention again for Cameron's speech.
"I know how boring these speeches can get and I don't want to be the guy that drones on and on or points out things we all know several times." He started with.
"Nash, I just wanna say how proud I am of you. I thought you'd never get a girl and look at you now." he said and we all laughed.
"And Zoe. Your an amazing singer, dancer, friend and all around person. Nash has no idea how lucky he is to have you. I hope when I get married my wife is amazing and beautiful as you. You make life fun." He said and I blushed.
"Nash I remember just yesterday we where throwing each other in pools and covering each other in assorted condiments and cutting our feet on can lids. Now you've started a family and I couldn't be prouder of you. I hope you two are very, very happy." he said.
Then they had a toast and it was time for another age old tradition. All the single girls and women stood behind me and I tossed the bouquet. I turned around and laughed as Skylynn danced around with it.
Then I sat down in a chair and Nash came over. He stuck his head under my dress and slowly used his teeth to gently pull the garter off. He threw it and we laughed at the look on Matt's face as he caught it.
Then we danced some more and Matt danced around with Skylynn jokingly. We all laughed but Skylynn didn't seem to get the joke.
I couldn't believe I had just gotten married. We ran to the car as they threw rice at us after the party and we slid in. I looked out the window and admired the little shoes and cans they had tied to the back. I laughed as I saw one of skylynn's little shoes.
Then we drove off and I closed my eyes, trying to relive the amazing night over again in my head.
