I was asleep when I first heard it. That fatal buzzing sound that declared the end of a life.

I woke with a start and looked around. The zigzags on the monitor had become a straight line. I screamed and pressed for a nurse to come.

Nash jumped up from where he sat on the small couch next to me and looked around. Seeing the line he ran to the side of the bed with me and started shaking moms arm. "Come on Delilah! Come on wake up!" He said.

There where tears in both mine and his eyes. "Mommy?" I asked quietly. I hadn't called her mommy since I was seven. I shook her arm but someone drew me away. The nurses had come in and Nash pulled me away from the bed.

I started to sob as he lead me out of the room so the nurses could work. No more than five minutes later, Sally walked out into the waiting room with tears in her eyes. "I'm sorry baby girl." She said she gave me a hug and smoothed out my wavy blonde hair with her hand.

"In sorry." she said again but had to get back to work. Nash held me while we stood there in the waiting room crying.

I heard a camera click and Nash hissed at somebody to get lost. We went arm in arm back to the car. Nash wiped his eyes as he started the car.

He pulled out his phone and dialed Hayes' number. "Are you with all the guys?" Nash asked putting the phone on speaker.

"Yeah where in the living room we wanted to surprise Zoe." Hayes said. "Okay put it on speaker." He said.

"Your on speaker."Hayes said. "What's up?" Cameron asked. "It's about Delilah. She, she." But he couldn't finish before he got choked up. They all automatically understood and I heard the phone fall out of Hayes' hand and smack the floor.

We pulled in and they all ran out in the rain to meet us. Cameron's held up a jacket and motioned for me to get under. We ran inside soaking wet from the pouring rain. All there faces where red and blotchy from crying and Carter and Matt still had tears in their eyes.

Of course that could have been from the rain pelting their bare backs. They had apparently made a video while we were gone and somehow Matt and Carter had gotten hot sauce on their shirts.

"Is she really?" Taylor asked but trailed off. They all loved my mom almost as much as I did and I could tell it hurt for them to talk about it too.

I nodded and started crying again. I ran upstairs and leaned against her bedroom door. I covered my mouth to stop the sobs but they came just the same.

I looked up at the ceiling and closed my eyes. Never again was mom gonna walk through the front door, kiss the top of my head and ask how school was. Never again would she call in sick to work to spend the day watching tv and playing video games with me.

Never again would she laugh as I tried to beat her at Mario Cart, the only game she was ever better at than me.

Never again would she run through the rain to get the mail then insist on giving me a big hug when she came in. I slid down the door and pulled my knees up to my chest. I sobbed and sobbed until I heard someone come up the steps. "Come one Zoe we made you pancakes." Will said.

I shook my head but he came over and picked me up anyway. I felt his strong arms wrap gently under my legs and behind my back as he picked me up. He carried me downstairs and sat me down at the table as Hayes set a plate of purple pancakes in front of me.

The bacon was in the shape of a smiley face and I looked up at them. "Is this supposed to make me feel better?" I asked and tried to wipe my eyes.

"It was supposed to. I guess nows not the time is it?" Nash asked and sat next to me. "No now defiantly isn't the time." I said and wiped my eyes again.

I picked at the pancakes and the guys went to get their stuff from the car and bring it in. More tears slipped down my face as I slowly put a small piece of the pancake in my mouth.

Me and Nash sat in the new bed I had bought while mom was still in the hospital.

Nash's phone buzzed and he smiled. "What?" I asked. "Nothing." He said. Suddenly the door opened. Cameron walked in holding a box.

"What's that?" I asked. "A little something me, Cam, and Hayes got you." he said. Camy handed me the box and I looked around at them. Hayes was standing at the door giggling.

I slowly opened the box and looked inside.
