Believe it or not, you couldn't sleep that night. Go figure. You think that's fair, given the Orwellian horrors you endured during your first shift. Yet, there you are again the very next evening, having spent the day mentally preparing for what was due to come. This time, you'll be ready, and you aren't going to run. You think you owe that much to Freddy, who sacrificed himself to save your life.
You really hope he's okay.
You were extremely lucky to have been carrying your keys the night prior, so you're not taking any chances today. Just to be safe, you don't bother dropping anything off in the locker room for fear you won't be able to return for it later. Instead, you retrieve your cart and tablet, which had somehow been returned, and head directly to Rockstar Row.
Needless to say, a huge weight is taken off your shoulders when you find Freddy's room in order. Not a maintenance sign in sight, which is fantastic news. Granted, you don't see the animatronic himself, but you hadn't expected to. The Pizzaplex is still open, after all. Surely he's busy.
"Hey, you," a voice beckons over the crowd. At first, you pay it no mind. It's not until you're tapped on the back that you pause your fretting, peering over your shoulder. Chica smiles down at you, blatantly inspecting your uniform as she hums, "Guess the rumors are true. You actually work here?"
"Uh, yeah," you reply dumbly, taken aback by her sudden appearance. "I just started yesterday."
"I see." She glances between you and Freddy's room, raising an eyebrow skeptically. "So, what're you up to?"
You're admittedly embarrassed being caught like this. She must think you're trying to break in or something. Maybe she just thinks you're a weirdo. Either way, you're put on the spot, so you opt to answer with a question of your own. "I was just... wondering where Freddy is?"
She waves her hand dismissively, which puts your mind at ease. "He's wrapping up a birthday party. He should be done any time now. Why? Need him for something?"
Suspicion confirmed. As thrilled as you are to hear that, you're quick to shake your head, attempting to downplay the situation. "No, not at all. I was just..." What, trying to make sure Moon didn't disassemble him? "Hoping I could meet him."
From the look Chica gives you, she doesn't believe a word of it, but she also doesn't call your bluff. "Don't worry, I'll tell him to come find you." She seems as though she's about to say something else, but her gaze drifts beyond you, and she sighs softly. "Little ones incoming. Sorry to cut this short, but stop by my room sometime, okay?" You only have time to nod before she flashes you a smile, walking away to greet the toddlers eager for her attention. There's no doubt about it. She knows more than she's letting on, but you have far too much on your mind already.
With that out of the way, you're onto your next destination: the Daycare. It's definitely risky, but you can't avoid it forever. Besides, Sun is far more... reasonable than Moon, and you have a few things you need to take care of before close. Best to get it done quick, right?
There's still a few kids running around when you enter. You'd anticipated as much, seeing as the Daycare doesn't close for another hour. What you didn't expect, however, is the odd look Sun gives you from the moment you step foot through the doors. You wouldn't necessarily describe him as upset perse, but you think 'shocked' would be an extreme understatement.
Understandable, you suppose.
You offer him a small wave of acknowledgement before getting to work. For a few minutes, he doesn't bother you, so you go about your job as usual. It's not until you're knelt down, swapping the dirty baby bottles with clean ones, that you hear bells tentatively approaching. It makes your hair stand on end, but you keep your composure, even when the animatronic's shadow completely envelops you.
