*3rd Person POV*
Since Naruto started living in the forest last year, his training has come a long way. He has been having Hiruzen give him training scrolls to cover the fact that Kurama has been training him.

He had unlocked his chakara the night he was attacked, and Kurama has been teaching him chakra control exercises. He had some trouble at first because of his large reserves, but he quickly figured it out, going all the way up to water walking in two weeks.

After getting his chakra control down, Kurama taught him the henge (transformation) jutsu to help him go to town without being targeted. He got it down after about two days and was able to travel to town to buy food, read at the library, and see Hiruzen without a single glare, threat, or injury.

Naruto had questions though, since he got to the forest he felt calmer and more complete. He chalked it up to feeling safer from the villagers and knowing the people that hurt him were dealt with, but he had a nagging feeling in the back of his head that he was missing something.

He ignored this feeling though and continued training. He started his physical training. He was running laps in the forest, and doing push-ups, sit-ups, pull-ups, squats. Anything Kurama told him, and with his now proper diet and never ending stamina he has come quite far in his conditioning.

Kurama eventually taught him another jutsu that had a multitude of beneficial uses, the Kage Bushin (shadow clone) jutsu. This jutsu allowed the user to make solid clones of themselves that would send their memories and experience back to the user when dispelled.

Naruto used his clones for many things such as foraging and supply collecting in the forest, sending them to the library to read everything, helping train his taijutsu training, and even allowing Kurama out for a little while by letting her take over a clone.

Naruto has been living in a cave, using it to hide himself and stay out of the elements, but it is small and somewhat damp. He isn't really thrilled with it and would like to find something better, but it's better than the village.

After being in the forest for about three months, Kurama decided to have Naruto train his sharingan, but made sure to stress to not be overly reliant on it. Naruto was very attentive as Kurama explained the sharingan's abilities and drawbacks.

He uses his clones to train his eyes having them attack and getting use to his slower perception of the surroundings, but it was disorienting at first.

As he got more accustomed to his eyes, he left ten clones to continue training them. He continued his physical training and had his clones exploring the forest to try to find a better place to live and map out the area.

Naruto and Kurama could feel Kakashi and sometimes even Weasel, the unnamed anbu, watching them from time to time, ensuring Naruto's safety and survival. They could feel the concern and disbelief both held when watching him train, and Kakashi even questioned Naruto about why he pushed himself so hard. Naruto just told him that he doesn't want to be pushed around or hurt anymore, so he would get stronger.

Naruto went to town and bought some scrolls, ink, and brushes as requested by Kurama. Kurama had Naruto practice his calligraphy for later use when he begins learning fuinjutsu.

"So, my birthday is in a few days. What should we ask of Jiji for my present," I asked Kura-chan, while we sit together in my mindscape.

I have made my mindscape better. What was a giant sewer and cage, is now a big forest with a simple single bedroom home, and Kurama has free range with a bracelet holding the seal.

"Ask him if you can use the open field you found by the river to grow a garden and sell any extra you grow to make some extra money," Kura-chan suggested, writing it down on a scroll.
