The year was 2005, ten years after he met his sister and a single year after he was placed in charge of watching over Clint Barton, codenamed Hawkeye. Why? He had no fucking idea, because he had the eyes of a hawk?
He's just kidding, in that single year he was on the Barton farm so much Cooper slipped and called him 'Uncle Ghost', shocking him, Clint, and Laura. He was definitely flattered. Why Cooper called him that, he had no idea.
Anyways, he made more improvements. His weapons could cloak too, Caity could take over every electronic in the United States simultaneously, and he discovered if he wanted to, he could take down an entire country in a single night, all on his own. PS, going to Japan at this time was a bad idea.
Recently got another new agent, Maria Hill. She was stubborn, and apparently one of Nick's favorites. Like, what the fuck? He thought he was Nick's favorite!
He had a new mission that was only when they had found new information due to being busy, and the man being on the run. Earlier that year a brilliant scientist, Doctor Bruce Banner, tested a creation of his on himself. It failed, which him turned big and green with the help of gamma radiation. He put a general's daughter in the hospital, injured said general's arm, then killed two scientists and an army officer before running, or at least that was what he was told. When they got leads, he was long gone by the time they got there.
Nick didn't assign the mission to him. He was approached by General Thaddeus Ross for help, and showed what chaos was caused. So, he decided to help.
The news gave him a name after the first public sighting last week. The Hulk. Dumb name if you ask him, but he couldn't change it.
No leads so that was blank, and he needed to follow a lead because Nick gave him an assignment. Apparently, a Russian assassin was making a name for herself, and Nick kept an eye on her, now she was a future threat. This was Clint's first mission, and their orders were to kill her. He didn't want to kill her at all, but he had to. It was his job. Although something like this just didn't seem like the Nick that recruited him.
What happened to the Nick Fury he knew?
Anyways, that was how they ended up in Bulgaria, looking for a dangerous, green-eyed redhead. Maybe when they caught her, she could tell them where Alexei and Melina were. They needed to be brought in for the North Institute, despite how bad he just wanted to know why. They seemed like good people, minus Melina attempting to hold him at knife point.

A week later, he finally got a name. Turns out she visited a guy in a bar to get information and gave the name Natasha Romanoff, probably a fake but it was a name. With that name, they could track her.
That was how he uncloaked his suit, yes, he could cloak his suit, outside of the apartment door before walking in, Caity turning his voice modulator back on.
"Barton, I got a lead." Ghost told him curtly, Clint looking up quickly from where he was looking at his laptop, on a video chat with his wife.
"Are you sure? The rest have been dead ends, and I don't think I really want a lead. This seems wrong." Clint, being a beacon of optimism, tried to get out of it.
"Clint, we were sent here to kill her. That was it. Quick assassination mission, then we are out of here. Don't tell me you can't handle it; this is your first field test, and I don't want to fuck this up. This is high profile; we will not get another chance to finish this. Are you going to do your job, or not? Tell me now."
Clint sighs after a moment. "I'll do it... But know now that this feels wrong on so many levels."
Ghost nods before replying, "I know. But it's our job. I hate it just as much as you do." Clint nods before looking at the screen.
