He fucking knew that Nick calling back-up in was fucking stupid but did anyone ever listen to him? No, not at fucking all. Vers was also quite displeased. "You called them in!?" She asked incredulously. He knew where she was coming from. If he got fired for this he would just say fuck it. He could always go back to being a mercenary/vigilante. He made enough to live off of that way.
Nick just gave a "My bad." Really Nick? My bad? Ghost came to a realization as they started going up the stairs.
"Dammit! I got new assignments today. We have to finish this quickly so I can go home and do those. I really want this degree." He got a weird look from Nick and Vers that lasted about a second before they kept running.
They rounded a corner and came face to face with the barrel of agent Coulson's gun. Nick and Vers stilled as Vers lit her hand up in warning while Ghost put his left hand towards him to diffuse the situation while his right hand started moving toward his gun. Just in case.
"Phil, please let us go. This is important and we've been set up. We didn't do anything wrong. We just want to do the right thing." Ghost looked at Phil as he thought about it. After a second Phil lowered his gun as Nick and Ghost breathed out a sigh of relief. They then backed towards the door behind them and opened it as another agent asked if Phil had found them.
"They're not down here." With that they went through the door and closed it.
After stepping away from the door Ghost whispered to the two, "Thank god Coulson doesn't follow orders blindly." Nick nodded as Vers had a thoughtful look before she schooled her expression.
They stayed silent after that, blowing through a door and grabbing some tools from a toolbox and sealing the door closed. After it was done Vers held out her hand. After Nick didn't respond she hit his shoulder before holding her hand out again. "What?" He asked. Ghost answered his question.
"I think she wants your pager." Vers nodded before making it a show as she held out her hand.
She spoke, "You obviously can't be trusted with it so give it here." Ghost smirked. Finally someone (other than Ghost) stood up to Nick Fury's bullshit. He sighed before slapping the pager down in her hand as someone ran into the door. They then started running again.
They hid behind a crate... or a box... as the agents managed to get through the door and start searching for them. As they stood there with Nick peering around the corner he followed Vers' gaze to a plane. He reached behind him and hit his arm, causing him to look at him. He pointed at the plane.
They then sneakily made their way over and into the plane. Vers sat down in one of the captain seats as Ghost sat down in the other with Nick hovering behind them. He then asked concerned, "Do either of you know how to fly this?"
Vers focused as Ghost answered. "Her? Maybe. Me? I'll figure it out. Photographic memory and natural intelligence is amazing in situations like this." Nick went wide eyed before he groaned.
"We're going to die." Ghost made a sound of fake offense as he put a hand on his chest and looked at him.
"Oh my god! You don't trust that I'll keep us alive? I have never been so offended in my life!" He whispered dramatically. Vers chuckled as Nick gave him a look of 'really?' Ghost then returned to a normal tone. "Yeah, you're right. I have been way more offended. And depending on how complicated this is, we might die, yes. Not the worst way to go. Being in a plane crash is on my bucket list." That got a look from both of them.
"One, quit being so dramatic. Two, being in a plane crash is really on your bucket list?" Asked Nick. Ghost just looked at him and nodded. Nick sighed in disappointment. That's exactly what his dad did when he told him a horrible dad joke or he did something dumb. That was normal from Nick at this point.
