"Okay, so let me get this straight. You come from a planet that takes over twenty-four hours to travel to using a ship humans are far from being able to make called Hala, you suddenly woke up overnight with powers that you couldn't explain, there is a living computer that runs the whole planet, your blood is blue, the Skrulls have been at war with the Kree for years which has led to them looking for a specific thing, they have device that can extract memories, they found a name and a specific location from your head that you don't even remember, and now you are trying to help the Kree in their mission while also trying to discover what these visions in your head are. Did I get all that right?" Ghost asked incredulously. The rest of the universe was so much farther along than they were. This was a lot to take in. His job just kept getting more and more complicated.
"Yup. That and the fact that my powers are being suppressed for an unknown reason and that Yon-Rogg insisted on me staying where I was." Vers responded, bored. Ghost blew out a breath through his modulator.
"Yeah. The rest of your Starforce team is something too. They might be a problem." Vers looked at him confused. He looked at her for a second before looking back at the road. Safety first. "Like you said, your commander was insisting on you staying where you are and nobody else questioned it. If they get here before we are done, they will stop you and you won't find out what they are hiding, because they are definitely hiding something." Vers mouthed a word that looked similar to ah before focusing on looking out of the window. "My job can't possibly get weirder than this."
Vers chuckled before shaking her head. He gave her as much of a look as he could which made her double over with laughter, causing him to laugh just as hard. She wiped away a tear as she finished laughing before speaking, "It probably could. I wouldn't count out all the possibilities." Ghost just nodded in agreement.
After a few minutes of silence, he spoke up, "Could I get some blueprints or some parts of your technology or anything similar?" Vers looked at him with a raised brow. He sighed before explaining, "Basically, any tech you find that you think I would be interested in or if you think I can use and upgrade things or make new things, could you send them to me? Hell, if you want, I could upgrade some of your things with the tech. You can say no, just throwing it out there."
Vers looked at him weirdly. Probably analyzing him or thinking. "Sure..." She said hesitantly. Vers continued, "Only if I feel like it or remember you after this. And if I do, you cannot tell anyone where it came from. Got it?" Ghost chuckled before nodding and giving a salute. She laughed as he rolled the windows down. It was getting hot, okay?
They talked about random things for the rest of the drive. What their jobs were like, what scars they had and how many (Ghost had more than she did by a lot), what they did during their spare time, etcetera. It was nice. He has not been able to talk to someone about that kind of stuff for a long time. He has not met someone like him since him and his sisters went separate ways. Vers actually kind of reminded him about Maya in some ways. Humor, sarcasm, no nonsense attitude, their confidence, etcetera.
He told Vers things he has never told Nick. Some of his secrets, his habits, about the fact that he sometimes has PTSD, among others. For example, he can't be around a toaster as it toasts bread or be around meat when it's cooking. Reminded him too much of the burning bodies when the Creed were massacred. They set the building on fire, they set some of the rooms on fire, they even set people on fire. He smelled the people that he was raised around or raised with cook as he could not do anything about it. He has nightmares about that day too. Constant what if scenarios that would run through his head. It sucked, big time. It's not like she would tell anybody. She would be leaving the planet in less than twenty-four hours anyway.
Anyways, he parked outside of their destination. He parked, grabbed the keys and stepped out as she followed him out. He let her walk in first as he had to lock the car.
