***TRIGGER WARNING- drugging and homicide mentions***

AJ and Nate stood and walked to the doctor. "Dr. Mahdi. Please tell me Gwen is okay!" AJ begged the doctor.

"She will be fine, Mr. Pinkerton."

"Pleasure seeing you again, Doctor. I'm sorry it had to be under these circumstances." Nate tried being cordial.

"So, the EMT's told me Gwen was vomiting blood?"

"Yes, she drank some hot cocoa, and went into our den where her sewing machine is, and she was working for about twenty minutes. I went in to talk to her, and she rushed to the bathroom. When I checked in on her in the bathroom, she had vomited blood and said her stomach hurt. Upon seeing the blood, Nate called for an ambulance. They did collect the cup when we were at the house. That's all she's had today."

"I see. Well, we will run the cup through and compare it to her bloodwork when we get that." Dr. Mahdi took a breath. "Before we start treatment, we have to ask if there is a possibility your wife could be pregnant? Some of the medications we give are not safe for embryos."

AJ had a moment of panic, but realized she couldn't be. "No, not that we know of."

"Okay. We will start the medication then."

"Thank you. Can I see my wife now?"

"Yes, I will take you to her."

They followed Dr. Mahdi down the hallway and through a couple sets of double doors. Stopping outside Gwen's door, Dr. Mahdi looked at AJ. "Now, mind you she's going to be pale and weak for a bit, but she will be fine. We will get the results from the blood test in a couple hours. In the meantime, you are welcome to stay by her side."

"Thank you Dr. Mahdi."

Nate looked at AJ. "Hey, I'll wait out here for a few minutes. You guys need some time alone. Do you want me to get you something from the cafeteria?"

"Uh, yeah, thanks. Some water will be good." He clapped Nate's shoulder. "Thanks man." Nate walked down the hallway to the elevator. AJ took a deep breath and opened her door.

Laying back, she looked so peaceful and beautiful. Even in slumber she took AJ's breath away. He walked over to her. Pulling up a chair and sitting beside her, he took her hand in his. He brought her hand to his lips and kissed it.

Stirring, she opened her eyes. She looked to her husband beside her. Softly, she smiled. "Hi Baby." Her voice coming out as barely a whisper seemed so fragile.

"Hi. How are you feeling?"

"Tired. Weak." Gwen closed her eyes and let out a sigh. A tear rolled down her cheek. "I just want to be better. I want to be able to eat or drink something without worrying if it's going to make me sick."

AJ's heart broke for her. He brought her hand up and kissed it again. "Well, it will all be okay soon enough. They're getting you the medication you need, and you'll be out of here soon enough." AJ looked at her face. She looked so sick. "I love you."

"I love you, Baby." She knew he was worried. She was worried.

Nate knocked on the door gently and came in. "Hey. I got some drinks." He set AJ's drink down on the table beside Gwen. "How are you feeling?"

"I've been better."

Nate sighed. "I talked with Sara. She said she left because she can't stand the sight of blood. She just needed out of there."

Gwen pondered for a moment. "Nate, I'm going to be straight with you- I get a bad feeling from Sara. I don't trust her. She's dangerous."

Nate furrowed his brows. "Becca told me the same thing. 'She's dangerous.' You guys don't know her the way I do."
