Chapter 76
***TRIGGER WARNING- Violence mentions***
Slamming the door shut, he cursed under his breath. I was so close! If she only had agreed! I want her! I NEED her!
"Sweetheart, what's wrong?" Sara came into the foyer. "I made you a drink." She handed him a glass.
He took it and downed the liquid in one gulp, then handed the glass back to her.
"You seem stressed. Is there anything I can do to help you?" She set the glass down on a side table and put her hands on his chest.
He grabbed her wrists and pushed her back. "No! You have done ENOUGH!" He grabbed the glass, walked to the kitchen and poured himself more whiskey. Downing it again, he looked at her. "You. If YOU had done your job right, this would have ALL gone to plan!" He slammed the glass down.
"I— I did everything you asked, Sweetheart! What more do—" she was cut off with a slap. Tears brimming in her eyes, she put her hand to her cheek.
"NO! If you would have done as you were told, she would be MINE right now! HE doesn't deserve her!"
"But, you have me. Why do you need her?"
This only earned her another slap. "I WANT her! She is beautiful. She is kind. She is intelligent. She NEEDS to be with someone just as intelligent and intellectual as her! Not that pathetic excuse for a man!" He turned away and punched the wall.
Sara jumped at the sound. "Damien! Be careful. You don't want to hurt yourself."
Damien turned and glared at her. "You need to go. Now. I have things I need to do and you don't need to be in my way."
Sara rushed upstairs before he could do anything else to her.
Damien sat down at the computer and pulled up the program he wanted. He put on his headphones and listened intently.
Hearing a familiar voice, he snarled. "Cat. You told your secrets. Our secrets! Now you will pay!"
He stood and went to the closet. Unlocking the cabinet inside, he picked up the gun and magazine. He opened the chamber to make sure it was clear, then grabbed his holster. He strapped the holster on, put the gun in the holster, and put the magazine on the other side.
Sara came downstairs and saw him adjusting the holster and his shirt. She walked over to him. "Damien? Is everything okay?"
"I told you to stay upstairs!" She took a step back, frightened. "NO ONE listens around here!" He went over to her and slapped her again. She cowered down, and he kicked at her. "You will listen!" He took a step back. "Now GET!"
Sara stood and hurried back upstairs. He glared at the stairs for a moment, then turned back to the computer.
Turning it off, he pulled out the gun and looked at it. He knew that it was time to take action against Cat. It was time to end this drama once and for all.
After he left, Sara went back down and turned on the computer. She saw the program he was using and opened it back up. She put on the headphones and listened, recognizing the voices almost immediately.
Mira Lynne came into the living room. "Cat, are you about ready? Officer Mobus said Officer Allen would meet us at Fratelli's, this way in case Damien is sneaking around, he won't recognize Officer Allen."
"Yeah, I'm almost ready..." She was fidgeting with a necklace. "I'm just... Nervous, I guess."
"Okay." Mira Lynne took a deep breath. Her heart was beating hard. She had a bad feeling. She knew it was best to have Cat work in seclusion. She was just nervous. She turned when she heard Cat coming.
