***TRIGGER WARNING- Violence mentions***

"Alright. Okay, thank you for letting us know. Uh-huh. Yes, we will be there. Okay, thank you. Oh, I'll let Cat know as well. Bye."

AJ crutched into the den where Gwen had been working and had taken the phone call from their attorney.

"Who was that?"

"That was Dove. She informed us of when the trial will be— next Tuesday."

"Already?"

"They don't mess around when it comes to attempted murder trials."

"We should probably call Nate and Cat and let them know too."

"Already on it," Gwen said, dialing Nate. She put the phone on speaker so AJ could hear too.

"Hello?"

"Hey Nate. We heard the trial will be next Tuesday from Dove."

"Wow. That was quick."

"Yeah, but I'd rather get this over and done with. The sooner it's done, the sooner I can sleep better at night... theoretically."

"Yeah, I hear you. Are you still having nightmares?"

"Every night." Gwen sighed.

"Well, hopefully they'll go away soon."

"I'm hoping." Gwen wanted to change the subject. She looked to AJ for help.

"So are you ready to come back home?" AJ asked.

"Yeah. It's been wonderful here with Becca, I've really enjoyed being here with her. I feel my place is there, though. Maybe when we've been dating longer I'll move back here— or have her move in with us since we utilize our house for work."

"That would be great! When you're ready, of course,"AJ reassured him.

"Yeah, I feel it's too soon for a permanent change. I love Becca, but I know this move was only for protection. She understands too."

"That's good y'all are on the same page. I know it'll be another adjustment coming back here. It'll be an adjustment for all of us. AJ and I missed having you around though," Gwen said smiling.

"I do miss you guys too."

"Well, I still need to call Cat and tell her about the trial. We'll talk to y'all later Nate!"

"Bye!"

Gwen hung up the phone.

"Well, I have to get some work done. I'll be in the living room if you need me." He leaned over and kissed her cheek.

She took a deep steadying breath, then called Cat.

"Hey Gwen!"

"Hey Cat. How are you?"

"I'm okay, how are you doing, Gwen?"

"We're doing alright. We got the call from Dove. The trial will be next Tuesday."

"So soon... Time is flying by."

"Yeah. I'm glad it'll be over soon."

"Are you... Are you ready for the trial?"

Gwen sighed. "I know it will be a good outcome for us, but I'm still terrified it will all go wrong and he'll be out on the streets again."

"You're not the only one... This is my first time really speaking out to the public about everything."
