Four

"Do you think I made it up?" Louis asks as he's leaving.

"Absolutely no one thinks you made it up kid, no one, but they will use every single thing possible to prove any doubt in your statements. That's the defences job" Harry says

"Well what about my defence?" Louis asks upset

"We know, we understand you're upset" Scott says

"Who withheld the information?" Louis asks

"Rhys Simms, he has been let go but he was your lawyers assistant" Harry says

"Why did he do it" Louis asks

Louis didn't have money when he was taken, so the state took his case, Harry and Scott, Drew and Edward were put on the stand as the investigation team and helped close the case but  Louis has no idea why Rhys would withhold this information.

"We honestly don't know, he was incompetent apparently didn't realise what it meant. He was an intern at the time, but he will get a slap on the wrist that's it" Harry says

"This doesn't make sense, there's something wrong with all of this" Louis says

"We know Lou, but it's our job to figure that out" Harry tells him with a slight smile.

"Well I want in" Louis says trying to be dominating and the boys have to hide in their fond at his cuteness

"You know we can't do that" Scott says hiding his smile

"Please, I'm begging you, that psycho could still be out there and if he is then I want to be in the loop, I need to know what's happening, I can't be blindsided again, especially if he's going to try to finish what he started" Louis says and the boys can tell he's worried.

If they are honest, they are worried too, they won't tell Louis, but they believe he's a target or going to be and it's there job to protect him.

"Okay, let's compromise hey, we promise to keep you in the loop, we will make sure we call you every night to update you" Scott says

"You absolutely promise you won't hide things from me?" Louis asks upset

Scott and Harry look towards each other and sigh

"We promise" they both say as they look back to Louis

"And don't worry, I'm not going to get attached or anything, as soon as this is solved you can leave again" Louis says angrily

"Louis" Harry starts

"I'll see you later" Louis says, as he turns around and starts walking away, he just wants to get out of here if he's honest

"Louis?" Scott calls and Louis turns around

"I'll be running with you every afternoon, if I can't it will be Drew or Edward, I'll be at your place at 4" Scott says

Louis doesn't need a babysitter but he doesn't want to stop running either, he just nods and walks out of the station, his head completely spinning.

.....

Scott turns up at five minutes to four in his running gear. Louis waiting on the porch for him.

"Ready to go?" He smiles at Louis

Louis nods and makes his way off the porch and they begin their walk to the trail.

"I warn you, I might be a bit slow, I haven't run this far in a little while" Scott chuckles

Louis can't help his slight laugh, Scott is extremely fit and toned, but nor he or Harry are runners. They like weights and only run interval training rather than long distance.

"It's fine, we don't have to run for an hour and a half, it's getting dark earlier now anyways" Louis says

Scott smiles at Louis in thanks and they begin the run, Louis is so fit and toned and although Scott keeps up with him, he knows Louis is taking it easy on him.

They don't talk much but it's not awkward, Louis focuses on the sounds in the Forrest and the greenery of the trees, mixed with the brown leaves now that winter is approaching fast. It's quiet, their breathing heavy. Louis relaxes considerably, the deeper into the forrest they go and Scott notices the change in Louis whole demeanour.

Louis slows down when he comes to a T junction in the trail.

"I usually go left but that's another half an hour so we should just head back" Louis says

"Okay, can we maybe, like... just take 5 so I can catch my breath" Scott says and Louis chuckles

Scott smiles in response, he's missed Louis laugh.

They then head back on the trail, nothing eventful happens and Scott is pleased, he now knows the woods and the trail Louis takes which eases his gut a little.

When they make it back inside the house Murdock and Lucas are taking over at the gate from whoever was on this morning.

Scott watches on as Louis locks the house up and arms the alarm system again. He turns around to see Scott staring at him.

"Sorry" Louis says embarrassed

"Nothing to be sorry for Lou" Scott half smiles

"You can go now, like, I'm just going to shower and cook some dinner maybe watch a movie, I'm sure you and Harry have plans, you don't have to stick around" Louis says

Scott sighs

"Okay, if you're sure" Scott says

Louis nods

"Okay, I'll be here tomorrow afternoon. Edward and Drew will be taking over from Murdock and Lucas in the morning" Scott says

"Okay" Louis says

Scott leaves and Louis re locks the house, and goes through the nightly routine. This time though, he ends up crying himself to sleep, wishing someone, anyone was there to comfort him and tell him everything is going to be okay.
