You had taken your written test in school a few months ago and passed. Ever since then, you had been practicing with Derek because your 16th birthday was coming up and you really wanted to drive. Your dad wanted to check your driving out before he would sign you up to take your permit test with an instructor.

"Dad come on let's go" you say as you shout from the front door. "I'm coming" he says as he walks out of his room with a full padding kit and a helmet on. You roll your eyes as he gets the keys. He locks up the apartment and he drives you to an empty parking lot.

"Are you sure you want to do this sweetie, I mean you're so young and-" "Dad" you say as you interrupt him slightly mad. "Okay" he says as he stops talking. You both hop out of the car and switch seats. Except your dad sits in the back while you sit in the drivers seat. "Dad, why are you sitting in the back?" you ask slightly frustrated.

"The adjusted risk ratio for death of passengers in the rear seat in a crash was 0.61 (95% confidence interval (CI) 0.46-0.81). Rear seat passenger position was also associated with a decrease in the risk of death and serious injury compared with the front seat passenger position: risk ratio=0.67 (95% CI 0.57-0.78)." he says as he tightens his helmet."

He buckles his seatbelt and holds onto the handle as you start adjusting your mirrors. "Dad relax, there is nobody here. We are in an abandoned parking lot"

"Twenty percent of all reported vehicle accidents occur in parking lots, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Nationwide, there are on average over 50,000 vehicle accidents in parking lots annually, resulting in 60,000 injuries and 500 deaths, according to the National Safety Council. The actual number of accidents may be higher, since many collisions in parking lots go unreported because they involve only property damage."

You roll your eyes as you start the car. You were driving at 15mph when your dad yells at you to slow down. "Dad, relax" you say as he readjusts his seating position. "I should of never let Derek teach you how to drive" he whines as you roll your eyes.

"Would you rather teach me?" you ask.  "Well that's what I'm doing right now" he says as you roll your eyes again. "Dad, you won't let me drive at a normal speed and you are freaking me out. I've driven plenty of times with uncle Derek and he thinks I'm doing just good. So please, relax." You say as you make eye contact with him through the rear view mirror.

"Why don't we practice parking" he says as you get slightly excited. This was progress for him. "Okay!" you said as you start driving slowly. "Okay now park in that spot right there" he says as he points to a random space. You pull up and slightly go over the line.

"Okay let's try that again. What about that spot there" he says as you try park in another spot and still go over the line. You do it about three more times before he turns to you. "I thought you said Derek thinks you are doing good" "I am, I can drive fast but I just can't drive in a straight line" you say with a shrug. "How do you expect to go on the road then?" he asks freaked out by your response. "I don't know. Maybe by practicing" you say back.

"Hold on. I'm getting a call." He says as you roll your eyes. "Hey Hotch...mmh...okay...yup...will be there in 30...see you then...goodbye" "we have to go?" you ask with a frown. "Sorry kiddo, maybe Derek can bring you driving out soon" "you don't want to take me out again?" you ask. "Not until you can drive in a straight line" he says seriously.

"Can I at least drive us home?" you beg as he looks at you terrified. "NO!" he shouts as you turn off the engine. "Jeez sorry, I was only asking" you said as you got out of the car. He gets out too and you go back to the passenger seat while he goes to the drivers seat.

He quickly drives you home before you both walk inside. You sit on the couch and see dad sit down next to you after he took off all of his protective gear.

"What are you doing? I thought you had a case?" you ask confused. "I lied. I just wanted to go home" he says as your jaw dropped. You cross your arms and he pulls you in for a side hug. He kisses the top of your head as he turns on the tv. "Maybe we should wait a little longer until we hire an instructor" he says with a smile as you just sigh.
